@Fproductionsdroid Yak appeared to start off as 99cent app which is almost free but do have period of time being free app for promotion I think. It had since regain back to the 99cent price tag. Personally, there's many other free instant messaging out there not just Yak to choose from...so don't "put all your eggs in one basket" :D

@Fproductionsdroid free app is hard to be cross platform unless they are on offer...I know Whatsapp is good but it's paid app. Talkbox is also cross platform, most IM that includes google talk, yahoo IM, MSN IM, and more inside apps like ebuddy, IgniteIM, IM+, Fring are good too but spammy. There are so many chat apps to explore on iPhone

Yak is leagues above FFM. Yak is continually refining and adding features, and FFM has poor memory buffering and a slower server.

I have installed yak but unable to get an alert when ever some one sends me a message. I have alert notifications ON for it. I have to open YAk every time to see either there is any message for me or not.

a better app is free foto messaging (FFM) its more fun and its on app store. you can chat and send pics

Yak is much better than Ping. Without less bugs and the UI is much improved hey it's free why not.
