BLue-ray and DVD is just like VHS and Betamax. Even though Betamax had better sound and picture, VHS won since it has more space, alot like Blue-ray. But in this case Blue-ray has better sound and picture,but not much better. It is also a little slower than DVD. And I have to say, even though more memory space was the big kicker for VHS,thiswas only because Betamax was only an hour and VHS was more than twice that, so do we really need any more space than what we alreay have with DVD?

Well, I've tried my hand on Encoding stuff a few times, so I can say that the potential for Blue-ray is Big, bout 5X BIG cause' that's how much a blue-ray can store compared to a normal DVD.
The problem is nobody really USES all that free space, or do but really poorly like most Studios do by ramping-up Bitrate and then going for something like 90fps (which is Stupid btw, because you end-up splitting the Bitrate to 90 frames instead of just 25), but doing nothing about picture or motion clarity
But some people just have small penises, or are born with micro penis, look up micro penis to lose your lunch, it is gross so be prepared. The problem is not with blue rays themselves per say. The problem is the fact most movie production studios still are not filming movies in HD. Blu ray can upscale dvd's and do some other coold shit, but to get the full use out of a blu ray is the movie its self needs to be filmed in HD.

When DvD's came out after tapes they BLEW them out of the water in terms of quality and user friendlyness ( like...skip scenes an scene selection and so on and so forth, ider if VCRs came with remotes O.o) but blue rays... its just a slightly better DVD that costs more. Waste imo, I bet it fails.

I'm not sure about DVD's but blue-ray will definately take over the gaming world in the near future. It simply has a much larger capacity and games will continue to get "bigger and better". i think blu-ray is silly. switching from vhs to dvd made sense because of the smaller physical size, larger memory space, and room for menu features and such. most people don't even have equipment to display all of blu-rays pretty shiny HD qualities, so why bother upgrading?

The problem is nobody really USES all that free space, or do but really poorly like most Studios do by ramping-up Bitrate and then going for something like 90fps (which is Stupid btw, because you end-up splitting the Bitrate to 90 frames instead of just 25), but doing nothing about picture or motion clarity

I worked for lifestyle condoms for a few years, the reports I saw stated that if you were born in a colder climate you would have a smaller flaccid penis but that did not mean you had a small penis when erect, for people born in warm climates their penises might be longer when flaccid but not grow that much when erect. I bought the trilogy of xmen for $10... the blu ray version is $40. Even if this economy didn't suck I still wouldn't waste the $30 extra to have a slightly better version of a movie.
What kills me are the movies now with extra cds... like... "Hey this comes with a blu ray version, a dvd version, and a computer version.." yay.... It's like toying with you to just sell the other copies.

The problem is not with blue rays themselves per say. The problem is the fact most movie production studios still are not filming movies in HD. Blu ray can upscale dvd's and do some other coold shit, but to get the full use out of a blu ray is the movie its self needs to be filmed in HD.

well. blu ray is way better than the dvd but until they can find a way to decrease the price, its wont be as successful. still we can see that it did better than the hd-dvd because that has been discontinued (except for xbox 360 games)

Personally its kind of a cosmetic watch.
When DvD's came out after tapes they BLEW them out of the water in terms of quality and user friendlyness ( like...skip scenes an scene selection and so on and so forth, ider if VCRs came with remotes O.o) but blue rays... its just a slightly better DVD that costs more. Waste imo, I bet it fails.

I feel the same way about Blu-Ray. I bought a player 6 months ago with a couple blu-rays and have not used it since. I really can't tell the difference between dvd and blu-ray besides a clearer picture. But we'll probably all be forced to 'upgrade' if DVD goes the way of the VHS.

I didn't really understand what the big deal with Blu-Ray was until I got a PS3 and a badass TV. Obviously that changed my mind. I'm getting Blu-Rays from Netflix, too and I'm diggin' it. I hope Blu-Ray succeeds in the future with movies, but it will most definitely stick around in gaming.

I'm not sure about DVD's but blue-ray will definately take over the gaming world in the near future. It simply has a much larger capacity and games will continue to get "bigger and better". The next GTA or Modern Warfare will have to put more stuff into the same package and continue expanding. DVD's simply can't stay forever.

LCD, HD, BluRay, etc. are all too vivid. Pictures aren't that clear in real life, so it looks even more phoney than what we're accustomed too.

I don't see the point of blue ray. It's not that much better - and, in fact, makes some older movies look much worse because they weren't made with technology that looks good on blue ray - than dvds. I also feel like the next wave of movie watching technology is right around the corner and blue rays are going to be that bizarre bit in between dvds and the new stuff that is forgotten less than five years after everything goes digital (or whatever is next).

Yeah Blu-ray is going good and the storage space over DVD is great. I only buy Blu-ray movies and rent them. DVD just looks like crap on my 50' tv. Now it's going to have 3D coming soon which looks nice. Also to say you don't use blu-ray on your PS3 means you don't play any games on the ps3. All PS3 games are bluray.

i think blu-ray is silly. switching from vhs to dvd made sense because of the smaller physical size, larger memory space, and room for menu features and such. most people don't even have equipment to display all of blu-rays pretty shiny HD qualities, so why bother upgrading?
