  • And, Lucky's grandfather!

  • No, but he is Shuggie's Father. Shuggie wrote Strawberry Letter 23....

  • What I love about Johnny Otis is the fact that he was one of the earliest examples of "Blue Eyed Soul", being that though he was born to Greek immigrant parents, he was pretty much readily accepted in the Black community.

  • No, the Grandfathers were Wynonie Harris and Big Joe Turner! That was much more thrillin!!

  • @BlackCatCombo ...Otis was a "grandfather"

as well. Different to W. Harris and Big Joe Turner

he wrote and produced R&B since 1945 for

musicians like Big Mama Thornton (he played

with his band and produced Hound Dog),

Roy Brown, Jackie Wilson, Johnny Ace, H. Ballard

..a.s.o. As a pionier of R&B he is in the R&R

    and Blues hall of Fame.

  • what i want to know is,who copied who?

  • I think he was Frank Zappa's uncle.

  • He wasn't, but was Frank's inspiration for growing his own "Imperial", which is the style of facial hair they are both known for.

  • Johnny Otis was the "Grandfather" of Rock & Roll!!!
