I got one for Christmas and it sat in our Harrisburg, PA basement until about 1971. I lobbyed parents hard for the Jimmy Jet--surprised the original supermarket price was $7.77. I thought it cost $13.
My parents threw it out because I had taken it apart to see how it worked. So simple. A light bulb inside a rotating plastic cylinder painted with aerial map, the plastic plane positioned over cylinder steered by the wheel and covered by a screen.
I WISH I LIVED BACK THEN!

Why food markets only? I'd have thought department or toy stores would be a natural.

Kind of a scary ad for a toy for little kids.
Maybe they should have used a voice over actor who didn't sound so creey.
