In the original movie Han shot first but then Lucas changed it so that Greedo shot first, people have complaining since then that they ruined Han's character in Star Wars.

I personally think it's a silly argument, but that's just my opinion. Many people probably disagree with me though..

@52wse when they re-released the star wars original trilogy in 2004, they edited it to make Greedo shoot first in order to make Han look more Heroic and not so much as a villain, but in the original 1977 version of the film, Han did shoot first

That's the old George Lucas technique of watering down the characters from a hearty stew into a thin gruel. Making Han into a rough, mean anti-hero would have made him into far too compelling a character (as proven by the 1977 release). It's much better to make his character as simple as possible, Han = Good Guy. The mantra of Lucas is probably along the lines of "Don't make the audience think too much, and God's sakes SELL THEM TOYS!!"

@excrament That won't prove anything. There are two versions of the movie: The Original Theatrical version and the Special Edition. Greedo Shot First in the Special Edition, and Han Shot First in the Original Theatrical version. Look it up on Wikipedia, there's an article covering the topic.
