  • this is f#%$%& perfection

  • I don't know anything about ice-skating except that she is really really lovely to watch!

  • Awesome

  • I miss Sasha. :(

  • Great performance, but what's up with this shitty camera work?

  • @ithinkformyseIf that's really rude...

  • sasha is a babe

  • the way she moves and the way she interprets the music is absolutely amazing!!!! And she's so confident and strong!!

  • @ithinkformyseIf who are you? Getrealandsee? With a new personality? You annoy me.

  • wonderful!

  • @audreyeatworld what about her short program in 2006 olympics I don't know bout you but I would say that it is also perfect!

  • @ithinkformyseIf

Nope, not fake. This is the only clean program she's ever done.

  • @audreyeatworld Besides her 2006 olympic sp, she also had a perfect sp in the 2002 olympics. She's also had many programs where she just two-footed some jumps like her 2006 lp at nationals. And many many clean show programs!

  • This is her best short program in my opinion. This is the one I like to watch the most. She is one of my inspirations for skating. Hope to be as good as her one day! :)

  • I am seeing her live tomorrow! YES!

  • Sasha could have easily become the greatest female figure skater of all time had it not been for all the inconsistencies she had throughout her skating career. If she had skated clean programs there's no doubt she would've had many U.S. and world titles and one or two olympic gold medals.

  • @waveglider1 It's truly said that she was so inconsistent. Her Romeo and Juliet program was perfection, especially when she skated it clean.

  • @narushipfan1 i started skating when i was 9 and am now 11. my dream is to be able to go to the olympics. i have found that you can do ANYTHING if u set ur mind to it. how? i have been able to land a loop consistently since the first week in which i started learning it. I believe you can do it! Have faith... :)

  • She really gets ino the program

  • esa cancion como se llama? es española?

  • LOOOOVE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!! and of course the dress :)

  • This was terrific. Shame she is only remembered for her gaffes when she is a way better figure skater than she gets credit for, just not balanced.

  • THIS IS PERFECT!

  • Love the dress too! :-)

  • Love this sport, It's my favortie! <3 Figure skating forever! Sasha Rocks!!!

  • Everything is great... except that the Lutz is inside edge... oh well, that was still a wonderful performance, good thing the scoring system here is still 6.0 coz she'll surely get a mark down if the code of points is already in use at this event

  • who could be jealous SHES AMAZING!!!

  • I honestly think this was her best performance of all time!

  • her last spin was soooo fast and beautiful! :o

  • sasha always has the prettist dresses

  • 15 people wouldn't know a good skater if she sat on them.

  • Now usually im not a fan of sasha because i like to see big and aggressive jumps, however this performance was fantastic and her jumps were great

  • love her

  • I have never been a big fan of Sasha, but I have to say this is one of the best SP I've ever seen. I agree with the commentators, "she nailed it!" at the ending with the spin ending at the perfect note of the music. Malaguena is her signature piece.

  • I love Sasha Cohen she is so amazing! I hope when I am older I can be as good as her!

  • the 15 ppl that disliked this are just jealous

  • flutz much

  • Wow! Sasha is no doubt incredibly amazing! I wish I could skate like her!

  • This is my favorite program she ever did. I wish she could've been a better LP skater, but I still love all the unique things she can do.

  • this was magnificent program. strong, sharp, stylish. if only .....IF ONLY she could perform the same for her long programs. she would be very very hard to beat.

  • I absolutely love her interpretation and FIRE , in this program !

  • I like her dress :)

  • This short program is a flat out masterpiece. Only Michelle Kwan's Rach '98 (not Michelle's watered down 2002 version) and EOE would give this competition. Sasha was so talented. It's sad that she could never skate clean in a long program at a major. Her spins and spirals were always ace. I think that this was Sasha's best program.

  • hammer

  • That backward charlotte she did is perfection plus speed.

  • thats not true...when I think of spiral I think of Michelle =) Her passion was contagious ...sashas spirals were gorgeous too but my fav. was from Michelle

  • sheer perfection all the way!

  • sasha cohen is perfect! I love you sasha cohen! ♥

  • she usually ends her programs with a spin.

  • @mynameismrsawesome Not just any old spin that any ole skater does. But difficult combination spins that she excels at.

  • @HowsaBowsaYowsa Absolutely. She was truly innovative and does things no other athlete does. She pushed this sport and her rivals by actually doing these mind-boggling moves.

  • i love this performance to death (no offense this program deserved a gold medal and i think she did got a gole medal)

  • Love this performance! Best ever! I also love that Euro coverage has so little commentary compared to the chatter boxes on ABC.

  • beautiful perfomence she's so telented like her <3

  • Best Skater Ever!!! :)

  • Perfect!!!

  • THE BEST.

  • What makes this performance so amazing is how everything is right on the music the whole time. It seems like no one currently skating actually understands music and how choreography is supposed to reflect the music.

  • @krhazy Agreed, but I think it's in large part due to the new scoring system. Each second is so important in a program now because it's opportunity to gain points... I think that alone overshadows the musicality these days.

  • @krhazy I agree :) unlikemany skaters she really dances on ice and has an amazing sense of rhythm

  • Figure skating is the most beautiful sport in the world!

  • this presentation gives me chills and all... amaaazinngg

  • BLOOOOOOODY HELL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sahsa cohen isnt meant to be a jumper she was meant to hav artistry in her spins footwork and flexibility in sprials etc...

  • @wluu1

I kinda feel like when she did her jumps they were the best though.

    Tight rotation

  • That program was perfect! There was only one thing that would have changed and it's not even a very big problem. Here double Axel didn't look effortless, all of her other jumps looked effortless except her 2A. But other than that she deserved the perfect 6s. Lovely program, this is one of my favorites.

  • this video is awesome because dick button is not int it

  • Beautiful and a very effective program. Quite stunning!!!

  • sos la mejor sasha...vos me inspiras a seguir patinando!

  • fantastic program!!!!:):) she is great !!!

  • I've always loved watching her short programs, but never seen a totally clean LP from her - is there one? I would have loved for her to have seen a GREAT spprts psychologist. I have to say the interview I watched in 2006 of her, well, she was gracious and seemed lovely.

  • Holding your leg vertical in the spiral is more difficult than holding it horizontal. That is why Sasha's spirals were the best.

  • she didn't deserve those scores - she two footed the landing on the opening combo - put her free foot down to catch her balance before pushing out of the jump - Michelle was ROBBED

  • @Chutson353 She didn't two foot the opening lutz combo. What are you looking at?

  • @fantastischfish it's a fine line and the judges only take off when they want to but technically putting her foot down before she turned out of the second jump and pushed off out of the jump is a "two foot" landing. She put her free foot down to catch her balance before she turned out of the landing.

  • @Chutson353 Nope, sorry, still can't see what you mean. She clearly lands both jumps on one foot, holds the edge for a moment, then places her left foot behind her to skate out of the jump. So long as the landing happens on the back outside edge, then Sasha is perfectly allowed to then put the other foot behind to skate out.

  • @fantastischfish I'm just saying that I've seen that called as a two-foot. It's a subtle thing and the judges seem to use it to mark down skaters they don't like. but compare it to her triple flip and you can see the difference.

  • @Chutson353 Hey - go look at Tonya Harding's SP in 1994 in Lillehamer - watch her 2/flip at 2:48 and then listen to the commentary on her "putting her foot down - you have to have control" - it's the American commentary by Hamilton - don't know if he's right but that's where I'm getting this from.

  • @Chutson353 There's not comparison between Tonya Harding's jump in that programme and Sasha's jump here. Tonya clearly steps straight onto her free foot and turns out of the jump without hold the edge. Sasha clearly lands her jump, holds the edge under control, then skates out of the jump. Tonya put her foot down to steady her, Sasha's foot only goes down once she is ready to skate on to the next element.

  • Michelle was definitely robbed at this competition - watch Sasha's free leg on the landing of her opening combo - she put her foot down to regain her balance before turning and pushing out of the landing - she should have been marked down for that. They don't usually do it but THAT is two-footing the landing and compared to Michelle's exquisite jumps the scores her are absurd.

  • Another jaw dropping performance from Sasha Cohen, arguably the most talented skater over the last 10 years.

  • i am crying because i can never skate again due to n acciedent that occured while i was skating with my hip. and whatching this made me think about how much i miss it because i was schedualed to go to nationals last year then i hurt my hip and i could go and i was sooooo upset for like a month striaht i didnt leave my room and my bestfriend went to nationals and got 3rd and we alwayd jocked about winning together accept now it was a reality .......for her

  • She has the best combination set of athletic and balletic skills I have ever seen. Nobody has ever come close to matching them. Unfortunate that it was her jumps and composure that always did her in.

  • Oh ok! Thanks! That makes sense now. It is awfully pretty.

  • This will probably sound really stupid of me here, but I am totally figure-skating-illiterate. What exactly is a spiral?

  • @20rubberducks when you move with your free leg off of the ground. she did a sequence of them from 1:47 to 2:15

  • @20rubberducks When the skater lifts her leg... There are many different types but look at 1:49, it's where her spiral sequence starts...

  • Her spirals r amazing! She makes it look so easy @ 2:14!

  • beautiful performance!

  • this music breack my ears

  • A perfect Flutz 4:20 .................

  • Comment removed

  • perfect figure skater.. i hate the new system!! it makes me sick. so far Sasha is the best. no one beats her.. she's more talented than kim yuna and michelle kwan. no offense fans.

  • This program is incredible. She is the best female skater ever. Nothing she does is out of form. It's just perfect.

  • Talk about fire on ice! Sasha plays the role perfectly.

  • AMASING :)

  • its a crime she didnt win this

  • I'm really curious, who else got a 6,0 in the short program here?

  • luv the dress

  • Sasha was/is one of the worldss bestt skaterrss in histroyyy without a doubt, no matter what everyone else states about Kwan or Yu Na Kim, Sasha will go down in Historyy and will alwayss be rememberedd.

  • I love it how she uses her hands! Even though the moves that she does with her hands are only small details they are a huge part of the big picture! And the choreography itself! Wow! I've always loved all of her programs' choreography! They are always so much different from the other skaters'. :)

  • sasha cohen ..Weldone!

  • Yuna, mao asada copied her flow in most of their routines...:d look yuna always ends her program with I-turn..the trademark move of sasha..:D

  • I saw yuna did I-turn but I didn't see asada doing it. sasha has more flexibility than others skaters and does it better, but try to do this spin too- it's very spectacular.

  • What a incredible skate. She always had trouble with the with the jumps in the long, but she can compete with anyone in the world as far as artistry, spins and footwork.

  • @jejules32 yah, u are right. its just bcoz of the stupid rating sytem.

  • The 6.0 system definitely did give skaters more space to be creative, BUT it has more flaws than the COP. Take Sasha for example. She was so often underscored simply because she had a fall and all her other components, such as spins, spirals, footwork seemed to be ignored. The reason she did so much better, and Michelle actually declined in the COP is because the COP awards the skater in EVERYTHING. Overall Sasha had better spins, spirals, footwork. Thus I think the COP is a fairer system.

  • @AllieChan91

Interesting points, but Sasha would have had more trouble with COP because they would ding her for the flutz and low height and ice coverage on her jumps. Without a proper lutz, it's tough to be competitive at all in COP (see Mao Asada).

Also, COP doesn't reward skaters for the beautiful layback and spiral positions Sasha gets. That's why you see skaters like Yuna Kim still getting very high marks for spins and spirals with just average positions.

  • @internetaddict

Did you not watch Sasha while she competed under the COP? She was always scored best under it, and had the best results. Her spins, her footwork, and all her spirals were rewarded because of the new system. One of the many reasons she was again able to beat Kwan at 2005 Worlds.

The positions are debatable, but all in all Yu Na Kim's positions aren't terrible. Not as good as Cohen's, but she is a brilliant jumper and has great choreography. So she gets a lot of points.

  • @AllieChan91

The pre-2007 CoP is completely different than post-2007 CoP. Pre-2007, when Sasha competed, they didn't really penalize for flutzing. Post 2007, they started penalizing, and Sasha would have had no chance without a proper lutz. Again--look at Mao. Without a proper lutz, she couldn't even win with 2 triple axels!

  • Yes, Sasha did have problems with her lutzs, and she was penalized for them (let us exclude 2010 for now), but again her spins and her footwork and everything else helped her garner so many points, that she always medaled under that system even with mistakes. During her time she was probably the most complete skater in the world. All she needed was the consistency. Her jumps weren't big but they had magnificent positions, and she managed to get points out of all her elements. Everything was +.

  • Deus deve ter orgulho da raça humana de vez em quando e por certo essa foi uma das vezes! Maravilhosa a performance! Obrigada Cohen por nos maravilhar! Uhuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu! ;D

  • Bring back the 6.0! Programs under the 6.0 system actually had style and uniqueness.

I hate CoP because everyone's programs look the same now. Same spiral sequences, ugly spin positions that keep changing, 3 double axels in one program, etc.

  • Agreed. If the 6.0 system was in place. omg Sasha would be winning gold as if it was falling from the tree

  • So true!

  • Actually...Sasha did/does much better in the new system.

  • I like to see Sasha's skating very much.

If it is a thing that can be done, I want to see her skating more more.

And, I am praying that I can acquire the right of representation of the Vancouver Olympics.

  • いい!

  • I love her strong expression in the end! XD

  • what really is misleading about the "presentation" marks back in the 6.0 days is that there are all types of presentation and styles a skater can adopt that makes their skating so wonderful. For Michelle, she always had a soft, fluid, and lyrical style. For Sasha, it was more dramatic, athletic and showman-like. It depends on what you like more. Both are very fine stylists on ice though.

  • Kwan was a arrogant cocky biotch

  • Just like your mother. lol

Anyway, good luck in Vancouver, Sasha!

  • Sadly, Sasha isn't going to Vancouver.

  • She is as an alternate for the Us team Nagasu and Flatt are the main skaters with i believe Cohen and Wagner are going as the alternates

  • yeah, but she's not competing.

  • nineteen malagueña by lecuona

  • malageña by ernesto lecuona in youtube maestro sabicas at guitar

  • "Malagaina" How ignorant of the the guy speaking he can't even say the name of the music right eh'!

  • how old was she here!!

  • Twenty-one years old. Fantastic.

  • I actually think she was 19 years old since she was 21 in 2006.

  • the best!

  • The best Sasha's programme ever.

  • Best Malaguena performance from Sasha. The passion she has here is incredible. She looks so strong here, her jumps are so solid and high. This performance never ceases to amaze me.

  • This is one of my favourite skating performances to date of anyone, anywhere. However, the one thing that bugs me so much is that she takes off for her lutz on an inside edge. That should earn her only credit for a triple flip. It bugs me so much every time I watch this. However it is still an amazing performance.

  • @SynchSkater True but that was pretty much ignored under 6.0.

  • anywone know who Malaguena is by? [the music]

  • idk, sorry!

  • Ernesto Lecuona

  • Malaguena - Stanley Black Orchestra

  • <3333333333333

  • she is just amazing. she really has wow factor.

  • timeless performances ....

  • Fire!

  • After seeing her I thought Michelle Kwon is waaayyy overhyped :P :P :P

seriously, before people say only Michelle kwon can do the spiral, Sasha can do a much better one than her!! And I seriously doubt MK can do the I-spin like Sasha

  • Nobody said only Michelle can do the spiral but Michelle single handedly raised the bar. Bobek also had a good spiral but nobody dared do the inside outside edge change. Michelle's spiral is still more iconic as it's been with Michelle for years and it's still great. Sasha's spiral is amazing definitely. Even today, Yu Na Kim & Mao Asada cannot do great spirals.

  • to be quite honest im not going to get inbetween the whole michelle and sasha thing, because they are both great for i cannot choose they both have amazing things but both have flaws, so it is hard to choose, but i really REALLY second the yu na kim & mao asada statement

  • Hate to break it to you hon, but Michelle is definitely not the woman with the best spiral. There are a few skaters who have achieved better extension, with or without the change of edge, Sasha included.

  • To change edge and cover so much of the ice without catching the foot for any part of it is far more difficult and done better by Michelle than what most of the women are doing today. Michelle did not have the best extension or position, but it can be painful to watch some of the shaky, forced inside-out spirals being done today.

  • I said a few skaters, not all. Take Caroline and Sasha for example. Both skaters do not hold up their position, have a perfect extension, are capable of doing the change of edge still in a perfect split position, and they do not shake at all, they are very steady. Yes Caroline does not cover much ice, but Sasha did. Therefore no Michelle does not have the best spiral, lovely yes, but not the best.

  • I just realized that when I said "No one does it like Michelle" that was just Michelle nostalgia. I found skating much more interesting with personalities like her in it. I just can't get into it as much today, although I'm warming up to Alisa Czisny. Of course you're right that skaters have done the spiral as well as MIchelle, and some better. I just miss her.

  • Yes your absolutely right. Alissa Czisny is probably the most interesting skater to watch out of the Americans today, but doesn't seem to have the charisma that was seen in previous skaters including Michelle. She was truly loved, and will be missed by all her fans.

  • @RandomMillie1991 I think there is no correct answer for the debate of which skater has the best spiral... Doesn't it really just depend on one's own taste/style?

  • @dylanvalente It's not 'her' spiral though. Michelle was not the first skater to perform the CE spiral. She did it awesome of course.

  • Sasha spiral is actually way more iconic than Michelle's. Sorry.

  • I don't think so. Better stretch yes but iconic has to deal with what people most remember. Michelle's inside outside spiral was iconic before Sasha ever made any kind of notice.

  • When someone says spirals in figure skating, they think of Sasha not Michelle. Sasha's Charlotte spiral is what most people remember. She's even on the wiki page for it. Michelle's spiral might have been more iconic before Sasha's, but now Sasha's is more iconic.

  • When ever I ask anybody about spirals in figure skating, Sasha always comes up. Even the commentators talk about how Sasha has the best spiral of all time. Sasha has a better spiral. Period.

  • When someone is thinking about a spiral, they think about Sasha not Michelle.

  • totally agree with u she is the best at it!! no one better

  • @pagsmiley

Really? I think of both of them. Michelle always knew how to time her arabesque spirals perfectly. Sasha gets more flexibility but in terms of artistry, I'd say they're definitely on par.

If we're talking spins and spirals though, definitely Sasha. But Michelle's arabesque spirals are something special.

  • @pagsmiley Speak for yourself, why don't ya?

  • @1814Brandan No. I am not speaking for myself. As you can see, a lot of people agree with me.
