I can't really say whether I prefer the film or studio version of the song - both are good for what they are, I guess.

Though I will say that Geldof's performance in the film gives me more of the sense of dread that I think the lyrics were always meant to inspire. When he leans over the podium and rasps, "Are there any queers in the audience tonight?" it chills me to the bone. Every freakin' time.

I almost wish you could take Waters' (or Gilmour's) voice and Geldof's enthusiasm and mix 'em together.

Waters (at least live, anyway) sounds more serious and believable, but Geldof gets so much more into it.. makes it scarier..
