  • omg rooney did steal the guitar riff! in their song cant get enough

  • Love the smiths

check out this band they remind me of the smiths

Spiders - Where Does This Leave Us Now

  • Oscar Wilde Influence

  • INTRO!!!love that intro

always reminds me of nights in doyles in dublin dancing around holding shoes on our heads to give ourselves that quint-essential morrissey quiff-good times and a great song!

  • didn't he once say he was the prophet for the fourth sex?

something like he's tired of men and women

  • The Smiths is the best band

  • He could take someone's eye out with those flowers! One of the greatest songs of all time. Anyone think that The first shot is similar to the cover of The Stranglers Greatest Hits? lways thought that. Well, since The stranglers released it in 1990.

  • What does ''pantry boy'' mean?

  • I don't speak English very well, so I don't understand when Morrisey says ''jumped-up pantry boy.'' Could someone please tell me what does it mean?

  • lol, he says country boy lol, its jsut hard to hear what he is saying a bit lol

  • No, he does say "pantry boy". The whole line is a direct quote from the film "Sleuth" starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine.

    Hope this helps. :)

  • The whole line is a direct quote from the film "Sleuth" starring Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine

  • Well that's anyones guess since Morrisey has never been linked with anybody, which is a differcult task indeed... when you think about how famous he is. He may be asexual.

  • i luv this song tis wierd tho

  • I know what you mean, it's kind of.. I dunno, old man, young boy gay type of stuff. Though I do agree, this song is golden.

  • The openining guitar solo is one of the best I've ever heard!! Classic British rock...

  • Ive uploaded the Infamous New York 12" remix of This Charming man which is 3 minutes longer. Ive also re-edited the video to fit the longer running time. Click on my site. Cheers.

  • Good song

    Good Irish band

  • There From Manchester

  • All have Irish blood

  • They (or some of them or whatever) may have Irish blood, but they're from Manchester, geographically speaking.

So they're not an Irish band---they're a Manc band.

  • Reform - No - no way they sang about the times for the times. the 80's were bloody awful and we might be having a similar time. Who will be the next smiths? hmm.. never happen. or will it?

  • I vote Brand New, and I'll probably get crucified for saying that just now.

  • Brand New <33333

Best band ever, in my opinion.

Does Jesse have the gay love for Moz or what? Hahaa.

  • Radiohead

  • I WISH THEY''LL REFORM...!

  • The mind alive. That's what I think of when I hear Johnny Marr or Charlie Parker. The mind alive, beneath it all: the smothering boredom, the inertia, the mindless routine narrative of everyone's thoughts, and their scripted lives. Beneath it all is the human mind alive, and it's fucking amazing, and it makes music like THIS.

  • Amazing song. <3;

  • i would go out tonight, but i haven't got a stitch to wear!!! XD i love this song!

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT!!!

  • arf :_

  • I like this version more. Which one came first?

  • Hatful of Hollow version is acoustic

  • is there an alternate version where instead of flowers there are rubber chickens or something like that?

  • I don't believe so. There is, however an alternate version of the song on 'Hatful of Hollow'

  • jonny marr had chicken pox during the video

  • Were they not allowed to show Johnny Marr's face in this video?

  • me and my girlfriend got the same score when we did this on singstar.... and this is hard to sing on singstar

  • Morrissey is a God. :)

  • I love Morrisey but I don't he is god :0)

  • You don't he? Interesting...

  • k.r.o.q =======classic

  • Nah not that bit amchriss its just the transition from intro to verse-I'm having trouble getting it smooth. Ah I'm sure I'll nail it eventually. Wish me luck!

  • Modest Mouse? never heard of them. I'll look 'em up. Tanks brigadier! Take it easy!

  • You've really never heard of Modest Mouse? Wow. Yeah either way he played on the new album, We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank, and I'm pretty sure he's a member of the band now.

  • I think he played on the new Modest Mouse album, someone told me he had joined the band but they might have been lying, I can't remember.

  • I'm trying to nail this on the geetar at the moment. What a bitch! Damn you Marr!!! Give me your fretting hand you too-talented arse! Anyone know if he's got any projects on the go at the moment?

  • this song isnt too hard. I know the bit youll be having trouble with. is it the big with the bar on 2 starting on 4? if so remember to completely reliese your hand when you play the open string.

  • thanks for that

  • do you know of any sites that help with guitar tuition or people helping out.thanks.noticed u knew your onions.

  • Awesome...Moz has done some great individual work.. but none compares to his work with Marr...timeless brilliance

  • yep

  • yo, f'real, no homo. but yea.

  • He is gorgeous, and sexy as hell!!! He's more than a prophet to me , you may be sure of that!!

  • i do really like this song, did they have another song quite as good as this one?

  • at the risk of insulting this particular song, but: many! Check the other ones in the scroll panel. Stop Me, There Is A Light... etc.

  • SOOOO good

  • Does anyone really find Morrissey sexy? I know he's handsome and all but I can't even think about him that way. He's more like a prophet or some sort of half-god I think.

  • smiths fans out there: i need friends! i know i sound desperate, but i am rather lonely, enjoying all this great music by myself, and not having anyone else to discuss it with. SOS!

  • *sigh* his sex appeal is mostly in his words

  • ah the young morrissey!

  • shud be called this charming manc haha

  • Moz has got Irish blood - and I think that the Irish/Spanish attraction is massive. Is it catholism or blood? I look Spanish but that look is from Donegal - where loads of the locals have Iberian DNA. The guy on the drums is my cousins uncle!

  • reminds me of cumnock and my mums old mk3 escort

  • Slim Shady sucks.

  • Smiths, classic

  • this man is a GOD!!!!! went to see him in bristol bought the daffodils and everything wicked!!!

  • why is it that latino chicks love this guy? no doubt good musick but what is it about him?

  • hahah sukas i saw him @ the Hollywood Bowl...dam sexy tho old =P

  • morrisey the pefect creature of good i love you man

  • los amoo tantoooooo!

  • it's definitly their most romantic, but i think "how soon is now" is a better legacy for them.

  • eu adoro the smiths, evandro brazil!!!

  • such a good song. i am doing a cover of this with my friends, so look for it soon!

  • moz rules.

  • dogs bollox !!!!!!!!!!!

  • IRRELEVANT, TO SAY THE LEAST..

  • que de souvenirs...

que je me sens soudainement vieux...

  • well you certainly shouldnt........

  • This song is timeless.. sounds fresh even today

  • i think you've got that mistaken with how soon is now

  • BEST SMITHS SONG!!

  • CLASSIC

  • i live for this music

  • Oh,I adore Morrissey.

  • He'd have one if he didn't keep pulling off his shirt.

  • wot a gr8 voice - i named my cat after morrisey

  • the original alternative...

  • man this song is so fucking great...on my list it is the best Smiths songs ever.

  • the smiths rule

  • Great song, brings back so many memories just hearing it again! A Smithsfan. Thanks for sharing this!

  • you're the gay, you gay gaylord of the gays mc gayness.

  • This is a good song to put on on the way of getting ready to go dancing.

  • One of my regrets is hating Morrissey and The Smiths back in the day. They were great, I just didn't realise it.

  • The truth be told.

  • I felt the same :-) I remember first seeing Morrissey in November Spawned a Monster, he simply drove me mad, I thought "what a freak". 20 years later - I just adore him! ;-)

  • andy rourke still strumin' in manc

  • KROQ CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!

  • morrissey is a prick but The Smiths are pretty good

  • one of my favourite songs, along with "how soon is now" and "panic". love them! saw morrissey live last year in portugal and nearly cried!

  • This song & video is wonderful! Thanks!

  • The Smiths, The Cure.

    Love, The Animals.

    The Doors, Spoonful.

    Music first, image later.

    Thanks to all you posters.

  • LOVE THIS SONG.

and i wasnt even born when this was released.

    80's rock at its finest.

    Thanks for putting this up.

  • this is the best song of the years

  • astig toh nice song wahahaha ^_^

  • no he's not he has never said if he is or not, he just came out of a relationship recently and wouldn't tell anyone the sex of the person. Don't assume.

  • does it get much better than this?i dont think so.

  • please tell me is morrisey gay or bi???i always looked at this song as an outcry of someone who is gay but doesn't wanna come out the closet("i would go out tonite/but i havent got a stitch to wear :)

  • i love this song, and the version by stars! <3

  • I'm diggin the chains. Go Morrissey.

  • This is one of the smiths songs I can listen to repeatedly and never get tired of hearing.

  • great song, what a classic !

  • Amazing musicians, they made some great music, love this one

  • ThE HaX

  • yea and especially this song

  • Many people say The Smiths' songs are depressing, but...I feel so blissfully happy when I listen to them.

  • I completely agree, especially this one, it's so precious..

  • love this song

  • alternative at its best bitches!

  • boring

  • Johnny makes me feel ashamed that I play guitar :(

  • Why?

  • I still listen to these guys, even though some of their songs are the most deppressing i've heard.Their melodies and lyrics still make me happy to this day!

  • totally agree

  • I bet destructive is the kind of music fan that likes his band to look cool and trendy. Rock and Roll isn't about fashion, no matter what happened during the glam rock period.

I don't care if Morrissey is gay, hell, if he keeps making the great music he makes he could be a 12 foot tall green monster and I'd give him a pass.

  • not a big fan of morrisey but this song is great

  • i love this song

  • This is such a beautiful song...

  • i dont know what this songs about i mean im sure its got a sexual amiguity vibe to it i know i just love when it says a jumped up pantry boy who never knew his place, great lyric

  • love this! reminds me of my youth lol

  • Flowers! <3

  • what you on about franz ferdinand lol

  • The first time I went to see The Smiths was the week this single got into the charts. The gig in Huddersfield was called off so we went to see them at The Hacienda in Manchester supported by James. It was one of the best gigs I ever went to.

  • Morrissey is a inspiration to us lefties

  • dikhedzz

  • Honey, don't talk about yourself so meanly. :)

  • haha he looks like a fagggg

  • you idiot, who cares what he looks like, he is a genius, you fucking prick, it always makes me laugh when people think its funny to call people fags.

  • great tune. try and see if you can get your hands on the "new york vocal mix" its an extended version. 3 minutes longer than this one. its amazing!
