I really like this version which seems a little more detailed than some. This one seems tuned clear up to a C though and I can't try to play along since I've already popped two strings trying in Bb! I guess I can put it in a player that can lower the pitch. I still have much of it to learn better. I faked a lot of it last winter for some folks who enjoyed it.
off nå vil jeg fanden meg få tak i en harding fele enda mer XD Er kvart harding og hatt den fela samt kunne spille denne flotte sangen på fela hadde vært himmel for meg XD
He was sitting there when the courtier went down to get some bear to the duelers, the man who played held the instrument the wrong way, with the instrument-neck into his neck and made the tramping beat hitting the barrel with a horseshoe. The courtier had never heard the tune before and looking at how the man played, he could only resume it was the Devil himselves. When he ran upsteers to tell everyone, one of the duelers was dead.
Wasn't there an old Scandinavian tradition that fiddlers were inspired by river spirits or trolls called Nacken. That the fiddlers would put magic charms in their fiddles. And this later led to the association of fiddle music wth the devil in Christian times?
the poem about the guys killing each other, to the melodie of the devil was writen after this song was made. it was called the devils tune, becouse it was so catchy, and it was probebly the first melodie that could be heard al over norway, not just localy. it was so catch that nobody could belive that a human could have made it.
lol I read about this, must of ate some dodgy shrooms. The image of Satan playing the fiddle in the basement, always creeps me out for some reason. I would shit myself if I saw that....
The music itself is pretty jolly and strangely hypnotic, not very devilish heh.

I remember my mom telling me the story about Fanitullen when I was little. Nice to finally hear the music too!

Satan played this melody while sitting on a beerbarrel in a basement in Hallingdal, in the 1700s sometime during a wedding.

Thats the whole point, the devil played this melody while two men were duelling to the death with knives, at a wedding.
The men got "hypnotized" to fight by this melody.
First ever record of Norwegian Black Metal lol!
