Please help me out...What happened to the ambitious UK of the past? Once the greatest empire on the globe, now barely more than a province of the European Union. I am a Texan of English and Ulster-Scot ancestry. I am sincere in wanting insight from somebody from the UK. How does a nation go from controlling vast reaches of the planet to a bit player on the smallest continent? I mean no disrespect, I just want to understand. Thank you in advance.
Political correctness, embarrassment at our supposed colonial past atrocities etc etc.Basically we were the first developed nation and are also now one of the first to turn our back on our history. We have pretty much embraced a diverse culture but in doing so we have forgotten our roots whilst celebrating everyone elses.
