  • wtf 8:13 ? LOL

  • When Bono stood too close to ( The Edge ) I thought he might fall off the stage.

  • @JordoF6

    What about Queen?

  • What we here see is a history Song in a History Concert with history Stars and history Groups and Singers. Live Aid Concert is the Mother of ALL Charity Events and Concerts.

  • I don't miss the mullet. I miss everything else about U2 in the 80s, but not the mullet.

  • Bono found Jim Morrisons wardrobe, and picked up the wrong wig. hahahahahaaa and even then they ruled live aid. They came onstage 4 guys from Ireland and left GIANTS you couldnt help but take notice of.

  • The end jam from 11:37 on is very, very rowdy:)....nice big sound!

  • How did they get away with this? I thought there was a rule at Live Aid that you couldn't use any backingtracks? The opening melody before the edge comes in is clearly a tape.

  • Somerville Ma USA Loves Adam Clayton remember Davis Square Thearte

  • Irish stole the show..

  • GENIAL...... Bono!!!

  • YEAH I love the lou reed at the beginning, ba ba ba satellite of love

  • So THIS is what its like to own the world............

  • Bono made a tribut to Lou Reed at the beginning and end of this song . Bad is a wake up song after Lou Reed wrote ,,Heroin''

  • U2 did steal the show - then Freddy turned it up to 11. He was that good!

  • I could do the same if 85.000 people stood in front of me an I had to perform.

  • After this, they never needed an introduction again.

  • you can see the microphone shaking, it can't handle Bono's hotness

  • Flawless performance..points for dancing with that chick at 7:57..fuckin RockStar :)

  • este tema fue el mejor sin dudas, nadie canto con tanta pasion como lo hizo bono !

  • I remember seeing this live on cable, there were a few acts before U2 and they all appeared to be intimidated by the size of the crowd. I'm fairly certain Bono decided that someone had to try and get this crowd involved, and indeed he did.

  • Who the F*ck changed the channel, LOL

  • loved bono then..before he got the american accent.

  • why dont everybody knock off the begrudgery and just give it up for a great perfornmance and keave it alone at that! enjoy if you like and go somewhere else if ya dont simple goodnight!!!!

  • best band of the world

  • remeber satalite of love was the eurovision 2010 winner Lena

  • satalit of love bonos idea

  • 8:13 wtf

  • I love this brings back great memories of being there. know the band and just love their music, words everything. what bull shit has been written down below some very jealous people UP/GOOD IRISH MUSIC !!!!!! XXXXXX

  • 8:13

  • best musick u2

  • @kellykinsellives so in your opinion whether someone founds a charity to help a cause he believes in is irrelevant, if he personally doesn't donate to it he's a greedy, hypocritical asshole? To each his own I guess, but I don't think I see your logic.

Simply put, you can call the man egotistical and you'd probably be right; it's something he even admits to from time to time. But with everything he's done, to call him greedy is, simply put, wrong.

  • BEFORE ANY OF YOU START COMPLAINING WHO GIVES WHAT, HOW ABOUT YOU LOOK AT YOURSELF AND SEE WHAT YOU GAVE TO SOMEONE WITHOUT ASKING ANYTHING IN RETURN. GO FEED 1 HOMELESS PERSON, GIVE TO CHARITY OR JUST HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR.

  • @TMVRADIOus well said xxxxx

  • nice

  • Utterly beautiful.

  • q energia...saudades da minha Princesa viu!!!

  • @kellykinsellives See my final sentence. NEXT.

  • Queen might of had the best show but U2 had the best song.

  • What imbecile was saying Bono doesn't donate to charities? I'll have what they're smoking. When he's not busy aiding charities, he's CREATING them. Don't bother us with nonsense.

  • @houseofdny Hey_idiot, starting a charity is not donating his own money to them. you ignorant imbecile. I challange you to post a link to an article whre Bono has donated a million dollars of his own money to anything, I mean anything just a simple millions. Watch everyone, he can't do it

  • @houseofdny He's doing it to feed his own ego. He's thinking; "wow, what a good guy I am". Makes me want to puke.

  • @mjonas10 Agreed.

  • @mjonas10 - so what if he were anyway, He is still putting the money in, what do you do? prick

  • bono was wide awake

  • Bono should pay for her insurance.

  • bono had a crush on the edge, look how bono looks at edge on stage, lol

  • @soundwaveish They were actually having a row, the Edge, Mullen and Clayton nearly left the stage as they thought that Bono was doing antics instead of using the time imparted to them to showcase their music.

  • This is pure legend. Man I wish I could have been there....

  • one of the most epic moments in music history

  • BONO I LOVE YOU

  • mullets...

  • ha I am sweet charming

  • The best

  • This version of Bad is still very powerful and moving after all these years. I know in England everyone thought Queen stole the show, but in the States most thought U2 did with this song. Thanks for posting it. Cx

  • @ bonavox 11...All is not always as good as it seems... Of course, greedy, otherwise you don't step into this business and stardom... You've seen his hotel in Dublin f.i. ??????? And support. amnesty and oxfam... He shouldn't be too proud... The former want the rest of the murderers of my people released, the latter sell the products of those murders...

  • u2 best and 1986

  • I cried watching this, maybe its because of the lyrics, the purpose of the concert , and the powerful way Bono sung it, maybe I´m a very sentimental guy, but i found alot of meaning to this performance.

  • Watching this performance on TV live back in '85 took me from "I kinda like U2" to "Oh my God, this is amazing."

  • I love this.My future wife loves this.Everything is good when music is involved. If you don't believe, listen to music when times r bad. Wide awake, and i'm watchin U2.

  • 186 people hate Africa. :P

  • I can listen to this song over and over again!

  • Queen was better at live aid but u2 was good im twelve

  • Comment removed

  • What happened at 8:13?? I see wolf!!

  • .....let it go

  • this is one of best songs of u2

  • hmz I am here to have fun

  • bono on vocals , for u2 style, no could touch bono, his voice, was so passionate on vocals he was a force 2b herd,

  • Such a powerful song and Bono and U2 are truly epic performers. I will never get tired of hearing this song and having just been dumped by the man I love...it really speaks to me..to try to just 'surrender and let it go'...

  • im 33 n saw this whole concert when i was 7or 8 n didnt think much of u2 until i was 16,17ish but this is 1 of my fav u2 songs, but i remember the crowd just amazing!. pity about bruce springsteen and not turning up his loss) but would have liked van morrison to be there 2 but he wasnt thought of!!

  • THIS SONG IS ABOUT HEROIN ADDICTION!!!

  • Now that's what I call music

  • My favorite U2 song! Sounded great in 1985 and still sounds great today! :D

  • this song makes me crying ! i am mike from germany . my heart i beating **

thanks a lot for this video - i still get young again 1***

    god bless you _ 2663mike

  • This was the year I 1st saw them live- in my opinion there is no better band live - they can make a large arena feel small .. They are so young - so much is ahead of them .. thank you boys for all the years

  • Love this song and this particular performance. Makes me emotional every time i listen and watch it. Best guitar riff ever.I'm a drummer so i don't know but is the edge using a delay repeater. If you watch his hand when he hits the strings it looks that way.

  • I ♥ BONO.

  • @epathroditus And besides all his charities, Bono donated 7 million usd directly to the african food program in 2011 . I also know that Bono has lots of money, but I can ashure you he's giving ton's away to charities . But now I wonder, you ignorant fucker, what have YOU done lately for starving children or did you just came here to critisize a great humanitarian ..?!!

  • @bonavox11 He should give all the money from his next tour to charity. Like MJ did with the Dangerous World Tour.

  • @MJFanatic96 Yeah... But with Less Fondling of children.... rolleyes.... LOL...

  • @frontstmaui not funny... MJ gave more then bono will ever.

  • @MJFanatic96 No offense intended my friend... It was just a joke made in bad taste.... Have a Happy Holiday.... And yes, MJ was an ICON since I was born. And that was A LONG time ago...

  • @bonavox11 it's nice to see someone defend him, he's not a bad person by any means, and does have a good sense of humor about himself...plus being famous certainly helps get the message out a little easier...

  • @bonavox11 Bono NEVRE donated millions of his own money to anything YOU LIAR!. i have been following Bono and U2 for 25 years and NEVER have they ever given a significant amount of money to any charity. I have searched years for what they donate and found they give virtually NOTHING! So you stop saying he donates when I know for a fact he gives NOTHING

  • @kellykinsellives

Did you found that on your i-stone ? Please don't comment if you haven't got a clue . If you want to know something about Bono's donations to charity you can simply go to 'ONE.ORG' (and join) or you can google: 'Bono's charity work' . Also, you can google: 'RED-Campaign' .Please do so, before you comment with your 'facts' . Your welcome .

  • @bonavox11 Oh the One.org crapola! yeah the One campaign that has been proven to be nothing but a FRAUD. What was it that I read about his red campaign? They got millions in donations but only spent a fraction of it on charity the reast to pay off the people working for the organizaton. Bono is as corrupt as his friend Wyclef jean who also has proven his charities are fraud too

  • @kellykinsellives I'll leave you with your own thoughts . 'ONE' isn't a fund raising organization . It's more like a loyers company that represend more then 3 million people( ho already signed up) . They are trying to raise AWARENESS to the poverty in Africa and they put pressure on politicians so they keep there promises to help out . Hell, Bono could buy himself an island and get a suntan the rest of his life, doing nothing ! Bono donating 7 million usd in 2011 was all over my 7°clock news btw

  • @bonavox11 Show us the link to the news clip or an article showing he donated 7 million of his own wealth. I know you can't because he donates NOTHING. You bono supporting liar

  • @kellykinsellives Only way you'd know for sure is if Bono showed us his personal tax returns. Even if he did just so we could see his donations, people would then criticize him for "showing off his wealth and donations". His damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. Regardless of how much his personally donated, one thing that is obvious is how much media exposure & fundraising his done for the charities which is worth far more then a $7 million dollar donation.

  • @Calc0lat Once again a Bono supporter can show no evidence Bozo donates and single dollar of his own welath to anything other than his own bank account. Don;t feel bad, I have been doing this for years and never has a Bozo fan ever been able to prove this hypocrites gives money

  • @kellykinsellives you ignorant jealous pieces of scum can't prove that he doesn't! He creates more awareness thn any celebrity does at least he gives a fuck, you can't deny that. and he is a co founder like what bonavox11 has said above. You want evidence of that..? there are millions of videos on youtube!

  • @theedge2009 Where's the money from his own wealth? Of course, you can't prove he gives even a simple million. ! 30 year career and he gives absoutely NOTHING. I can find tons of articles of how he tax shelters his money and refuses to alllow U2 products be used for charity. meanwhile, he lectures drug companies should release their patents! The guy is the biggest hypocrite in the business. He won't release his copyrights on U2 music for use within charitable commercials.

  • @kellykinsellives you must be finding those articles up your whole or the person who sells them to you must be the same guy who sold jack his beanstalk because I have read no such articles. The media are out to attack celebrities anyway, if this man does something bad, embarrassing or shocking it would be on the front page of every paper! But if he does something good, heroic or honorable, it will just bypass the media because they prefer to make celebrities hated. not loved.

  • @kellykinsellives My point was that it's irrelevant how much of his own money he donates because the amount of fundraising and media exposure he gets for charities far exceeds anything he may have personally donated. Who cares if the guy never donated a cent... his raised millions through fundraising and his charitable activities instead which to me is just as good.

  • @bonavox11 You are full of sh#t. Produce the article that says Bono donated his own 7 million to anything. he donates NOTHING! In fact, I had this argument with another bono support whose Aunt works for U2 and he made the same claim. I told him ask his aunt to show the proof. The guy came back to me and told me I was right. The aunt told him Bono donates nothing from his own wealth

  • That's some bad mullet harry.

  • @epathroditus Bono greedy .. ? You'd better get your act together dude . Bono is a co-founder or financial supporter of more then 30 charities, including : Live 8, war child, oxfam, amnesty international, greenpeace, red cross, zero hunger, DATA (debts, aids, trade, africa), ONE-campaign, RED-campaign(that raised 42 million usd in the 1st year) , global fund... and many more . Not to mention Bono taking his time to meet world leaders in order to try and cancel african debts .

  • @bonavox11

BONO CHARGES SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS FOR GOOD TICKETS AT HIS SHOWS. I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE BEING ABLE TO AFFORD BRINGING MY FAMILY OF 5 TO A SHITTY U2 CONCERT.

  • @Mrgyn

If you think U2 is shitty then don't go to their concerts . Just to give you some info ; At the 360° tour, EVERY show had AT LEAST 10.000 tickets at 30usd . I think that's a fair prize to see the biggest music show in the industry, no ..?

  • @bonavox11 Don't take the bait man.

  • @bonavox11 Great piece of writing mate. I get sick of people slagging Bono when they have no idea what he and his many partners have done to stop abject poverty and hunger and the spread and treatment of HIV/AIDS, in my opinion apart from being the lead singer in the greatest band ever he also commands my respect as one of the true humanitarians of the past 100 years, a great man.

  • @bonavox11 hey i_diot, Bono doesn't donate a single penny of his fortune. Any fool, can be the spokesmen for a charity. Big f#cking deal! Let's see this arrogant little twit put his money where his mouth is. This dwarf shelters his money in tax shelters so not to pay it to the Irish govt and then lectures us all about having our governments relieve debt and pay for aids. meanwhile he makes sure his money pays for nothing but his own mansions and jet planes, he is a limo lib hypocrite

  • @bonavox11 oh poor Bono he has to go have dinners with world leaders and the rich and famous at 5 star restaurants and the fanciest hotels around the world. Oh he sacrifices so much to help the ppor ppl. He gets to go on TV and lecture us how horrible we are for not paying more taxes, meanwhile he shelters his money in dutch banks to avoid paying those same taxes to the Irish giovernment. You are idiot for defending this arrogant hypocrite who hasn't written a hit sing since 1990

  • @kellykinsellives This is my last reply to you : 1)Bono can do nothing, he could take a lifetime vacation, that is his right . But he doesn't, he ACTS . Unlike Phil Collins and others(who are trying to buy a newspaper collum) U2's donations are NEVER publiced in media except that 7 mill was on my newschannel (1st time) . 2) 7.2 million people attended a U2 360° show what made it the biggest in music HISTORY . I think that's great for a band that "hasn't written a hit since 1990" . You're funny !

  • @bonavox11 yes my illiterate friend.. Bono has done more in 1 concert than you can do in a lifetime... Sorry maybe next life?

  • This performance at Live Aid was a transformational moment for me. It changed how I heard and thought about about music from that moment on. Just amazing....

  • CD quality every time I've seen them live, Brilliant and still going very very Strong nearly 30 years on

  • @interpreterLive hahaha lovin the Chrisie Waddle haha Brilliant pmsl :o))))))))))

  • Bono has done more for the world than ANY OF YOU WHO WATCH THIS VIDEO EVER. So deal with it.

  • @epathroditus have you not paid attention to all the things Bono has done for the word? He spends most of his life in other countries trying to help situations in Africa such as famine and hunger! He has made so many organizations and puts so much time and money into it. Think before you say something like that dumb ass.

  • I'm not sleepin'

    ARE YOU SLEEPIN'?

This was THE highlight of Live Aid...you can have Freddie, Zeppelin and McCartney.

  • Back here he still had a great voice, now it's pretty messed up

  • what the fuck is up with he freezing up every 5-10 seconds? Jesus Christ

  • @epathroditus you missed out sanctimonious. Bono has preyed on the gullible for years (the easily believing yanks for instance).

Bono has been exposed at home for years.. its time the rest of the world woke up.

  • The most contrived band ever, fronted by Mr sanctimonious. His staged "NO" 6:15 .. the man is an embarrassment. Utterly shameless

While the pretentious, prolific shit talker is lampooned in the UK/Ireland ..the rest of the world gets taken in by the nonsense. Its startling how gullible other parts of the world are to these tax evading con men. I have to begrudgingly give Bono and the lads respect for pulling this off.

  • @Ali74 Yeah right! And you are going to save us all from Bono and U2. And what exactly are we all being taken in by? Do tell.

  • @m06een00 his self-righteous bullshit for starters. He goes around the world (copying the original and true activist Bob Geldof) spouting crap about poverty.. while the tax evading con man places his assets in the Netherlands.

Tell me that "NO" at 6:19 is real... as he sees nothing. But wait... the act must continue... and 27 years later it still does. While the song content of U2 is fake and money driven... it does however sound fantastic.

  • @Ali74 You're full of shit. How much money have you raised for charity? How many world leaders have you spoken to face to face about human rights? How many countries have you visited as a UN ambassador? How many organisations do you head to improve the lives of millions of people? When you can satisfactorily answer all of these questions, you might have the ghost of a point. Until then, shut the fuck up!

  • @epathroditus You have no clue what you're talking about you dirty asshole, Bono has done so many things for homeless people, and charities over the years. He is being nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize because of all the great things he has done. If you are gonna talk shit about him then just fucking leave, I don't understand why you would come onto the video in the first place if you don't like Bono. Just get out, you're a dumbass and a disgrace, how dare you talk about Bono that way. Idiot.

  • @epathroditus you have no idea what your talking about dude, bono has brought awareness to so many things rather than just sing about sex and drugs and find ways to spend his money. He gives massive donations every year to women and child organizations across the world.

  • ONE OF THE GREATEST PERFORMERS TO EVER STEP ON STAGE, U2 YOU WILL ALWAYS HAVE MY HEART AND SOUL, NO BAND WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO THE IMPACT THAT YOU'VE MADE IN THE WORLD.

  • PASARON YA TANTOS AÑOS, DE ESTA CANCION..... Y EN MI TAMBIEN, PERO LA EMOCION QUE ME CAUSA CADA VEZ QUE LA ESCUCHO, SIGUE SIENDO LA MISMA QUE SUERTE LA MIA, ESTA MUSICA EN MIS OIDOS, ESA GUITARRA!! SALUDOS DESDE BUENOS AIRES

  • I had this video minimized while I was listening to the song. Then I heard the cartoon and I was like WTF was that??

  • I never knew Chris Waddle had such a voice on him...

  • bonos voice is so beautiful, his voice, the edges riffs, classic u2

  • No band or artist has ever -- in the history of time -- announced their arrival on the world stage as powerfully as U2 did with this performance. It isn't even close.

  • @JohnTerry626 I disagree...as much as I love U2, and trust me they are my favorite ban bar none...the performance by Queen, specifically Freddy Mercury, was leaps and bounds ahead of this, in truth ALL performaces at this function. I have seen U2 many many times...unfortunately too late to see Queen :(

  • @LynnieLousMusic Read my comment again, please. I wasn't comparing anything. I simply said no band ever announced themselves to the world like that before. U2 had a couple hits and was a big band in spots, but after that day, they were world stars. They had arrived, hence my comment.

  • dat hair

  • Poderiam estar no Rock in Rio . . .

  • so i can bend to your needs, just talk to me and tell me what you want

  • Great performance, great band, top 10 all time, but i (like most in UK/Ireland) have a serious problem with Mr Sanctimonious Bono. "NO".. how contrived was that? Takes himself so serious its laughable.

  • An interview with the Edge said they were worried if they would sound ok when they did this as there was no time for a sound check of their equipment. That is why they actually sound a little off their usual brilliance....

  • One of the greatest live performances of all time.

  • Love U2... will never forget Pittsburgh 2011, and feeling so lucky to hear them play Bad LIVE to end the US Tour and the penultimate ending to the entire 360 tour!

  • I remenber watching the concert live on TV back in France then , I mean there are no Grammy's nothing that can compare to the musical level of these years, lucky to be born in the 60"S!!

  • I agree

  • I cry in this video

  • greatest live video ever

  • Ironic that a song called BAD can be so GOOD but, that's kind of like Bono says: "there's good...and there's bad" (the duality of the universe) the beauty and power and depth of the song, with the Edge's chiming, church-bell-like guitar riffs, reminded me, during this hard time in my marriage, that if we just focus on the GOOD, God will take care of the bad, to let it go, to let it "fade away," to resign as the ruler of our own cosmos and let God be God.

  • Wow...when U2 actually had to introduce themselves. To have this song with such magnitude so early on....epic.

  • A piece of history...like no other. U2 is the real deal

  • Shit I wish I was born 17 years sooner. I would sell a kidney to have been there!!!

  • What the heck was that at 8:13 ? 0_0"

  • @burnstile321 When this was taped over, the show or cartoon that was originally on the tape glitched

  • @burnstile321 Bichon Bacon.

  • @burnstile321 this is recorded onto a video tape, sometimes the previous recording you were recording over would blip through the new recording if there were any dirty recording heads in the recorder, and this is what would happen, the bit at 8.13 is NOTHING to do with the video your watching of U2 at Live Aid

  • Beautiful...I was 18years at that time.....

  • @gixxerboy555 I was 18 also, remember this like it was yesterday.Man I wish it was yesterday.

  • I like the cartoon in the middle of the song

  • envy anyone who was at Live Aid. The mother of all concerts

  • @Ali74 yes 2 billion people in all the world saw it live

  • This song and video are/were the epicenter of my youth. Well done boys!

  • Bono's 25 here. Please tell me, can another singer now write and pull off a song with so much weight and importance? It's hard to find artists like this, the ones who don't need to write about sex and fame; just love.

Forget all the awards - Live Aid, this performance alone makes U2 a legend.

  • @thetrueparadisecity YOU nailed it-ELOQUENTLY.

  • @thetrueparadisecity

The imagery he uses-well, I only find Van Morrison similar-0BUT BONO best rock vocalists ever!

  • @thetrueparadisecity that's why I keep saying that U2 is THE last rock band that will matter. Time will prove it.

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... 25 yeah n hes got big balls to do this!! massive crowd

  • regular bono's megalomaniac butchery. rock star masturbation.

  • How the fuck could you possibly dislike this video
