I can vividly imagine this being played on a long , late night journey on a rainy motorway. Everything is viewed in soft-focus as the whole car vibrates to this masterpiece. :)
Love this period of Speedy Js work, all the stuff off Ginger & G-Spot was an awesome mix of techno and ambient. This track reminds me of early Orbital too.
Tresor is also the name of a big club in Germany...a VERY nice place to be ;) I`ve heard a set of Speedy J in Amsterdam...walking between the Vondel-Park and rave.....AWESOME ! (Broke my tooth on a few micro dots...so I`ll never forget ;) ) Greetzzz from Amsterdam..Peace :)
Ein Hoch auf den Track - DT 64 bei der Dancehall lief er immer mit. Unvergessene Jugend. Danke an Speedy J für diesen Track, is in meinen persönlichen Top10 des Lebens sicher mit dabei !
This is my fave Speedy J track ever. That bassline is deep as fuck and the drums destroy when they come in. Top it off with those voices and you've got a transcendent masterpiece on vinyl. 5* all the way to the future :P
Why is that synth so awsome? Why is this song so awsome? And why the fuck I don't have THIS on a vinyl? Holy shit past times were the BEST times. Past the ol' gold...
JUST ADDED TO SW4 2010 LINEUP... Carl Cox, John Digweed, Vitalic, Dubfire, Paul Oakenfold, Sharam, Boys Noize, Erol Alkan, Joris Voorn, Mark Knight, Skream & Benga, Josh Wink, Mutant Clan, Switch, Gareth Emery, A Trak, Judge Jules, Ms Dynamite, Andy C, Christian Smith, Guy J, Giuseppe Ottaviani [Live], Funkagenda, Dave Spoon, Joachim Garraud, Housemeister, DJedjotronic, Shadow Dancer [Live], Jack Beats, Mary Ann Hobbs (Radio 1), For full arena breakdown: southwestfour(dot)com/artists.htm
Such a glorious track... we all used to play this at 45rpm with the pitch set to around -6.... It would be good to here that too...becomes a rave classic.
Completely different from Speedy J's usual skull-banging technoo and all the better for it - thanks for posting this it's now one of my fave tunes of all time.
Dunno how this little rascal slipped past me first time around I've been well into hardcore, rave, techno and beyond since forever! :)
@ev3nflow Me too, my kids at their age don't get "daddy's 90's IDM love/Techno love" but this is/was our generation's "be bop" our collections will be like old farts with thier Coltrane collections...
@sanjac1974 posted that comment 2 years ago, and nwots changed mucker, its still a incredible choon, and always will be...
love the coltraine comment..my old fella was a northern soul kid in 60's always bleating on about the nile and the reno, the twisted wheel and wigan pier...and now i go on like a drone about the hacienda..full circle..lol
@sanjac1974 Mutual, I 'lost 'all my old punk vinyl, I'll be damned if I sell my dance vinyl. Daughters looking like a rock chick but my son's got his groove on (8 & 6 years)
@GWADZILLA at the time i posted that i wasn't sure if this track was actually De-Orbit since i'd heard another tune by Speedy J that had mistakenly been labeled "De-Orbit". naturally when i saw the inconsistency here, it just reinforced my uncertainty.
but you are right. there is indeed a label called Tresor
I know this says 33rpm on the label but you should play it at 45rpm. It's much better speeded up. Most Djs play it at the faster speed - though whichever way you play it, it's pure genius.
classic stuff. Im actually in windsor right now. I dont know whatever happened to my copy of this record but its nice seeing the center sticker again. Great upload. :-)
I met him and richie when he did a gig a the hippodrome in manchester, my pal was dj there. we blagged richie into getting a skinhead cos he looked like the milkybar kid..
