If you listened to the whole CD "Bluisiana" you would hear the genius is these musicians. My father Frank Melrose(deceased) is on piano, he also wrote some of the songs. There are also some other greats on this download.
In the heat of the moment I accidentally omitted the word "ignorance" in the last sentence of my reply to circles79 but alas, I see that my entire reply has already been marked as spam.
No Circles79, you don't get the last word. Reducing the music of rjrillo to a mere elevator shows that YOU clearly don't get it.(and that's ok too) You have exposed your ignorance regarding the objective constants in music thus nullifying your opinion altogether. Furthermore, isn't it refreshing to see someone offer a critical opinion about music rather than blindly perpetuate the fallacious idea that music(art) is based on democracy rather than meritocracy? You miss the whole point.
meritocracy? wow. I hope that was a joke. what are the merits of music? this is not the boy scouts, boy. music is not war.
if there were objective constants to any art form, there would be complete stagnation. if that's what you're going for then that's great. quit putting other people down and post some of your own vids of your own music and show us some of these "merits".
thedwork: Artistic merit or validity should not be assumed through mere existence. When popular success is so often attributable to an apparent lack of subjective discernment, the true coupling of "raw talent" and craft in too many cases becomes devalued. This can become an evolutionary battle for survival and I applaud anyone who is willing to take up the fight rather than sit on the fence in blind acceptance.
Leader Mazurek never had the raw talent or dedication it took to be a real jazz player so now he's famous for making noise. Pathetic example of how easily the jazz establishment in Chicago and elsewhere are fooled.
rjrillo: it's the fool who feels the need to knock someone else down to build himself up. your comment is pretentious and ignorant. go to amazon and listen to all the samples from his record Badlands (particularly the track Edinburgh Nights). Mazurek's wonderful "raw talent" and "dedication" are obvious to anyone with an open mind and an ear for creative music; whether it's on Badlands or Unstable Molecule.
commentator rjrillo never had any talent to post a comment of any merit whatsoever. nobody knows who he is (or cares) and he's reduced himself to a whining pathetic anonymous creep who puts underrated/underpaid artists down in a jealous fit.
If you think you know who rjrillo is your claim that, "nobody knows who he is (or cares)", is simultaneously ignorant and self-nullifying. You seem to care a great deal. Your poorly written reply is in complete contradiction with the tenor of your claims. I might add that your username, "Circles79", is anonymous by design yet I will resist labeling you a coward of the highest order. Your is underscored by your statement that Mazurek is underrated and underpaid.
What do you know about rjrillo? What if you were to find he was in fact eminently qualified to make whatever comment he so chooses because he's a genius? If you live in Chicago, you know this to be true. You also would know that the Chicago jazz establishment has conspired to elevate the jive and bury the truth. An inability to master harmony, rhythm and melody is a deficiancy not a mark of genius, no matter what Howard Reich says.
okay, so I googled this rjrillo and even listened to some of his mp3s. he was better when he was an anonymous fuck. now he is the SCHMALTZIEST fuck in the world. no wonder he doesn't get this music. he's stuck in the elevator. cough, uhhh yeah... it's a conspiracy that this man isn't famous! (are you high?)
Fantasticly hypnothico psycheledica.

1. you don't get it (and that's okay).
2. raw talent doesn't exist.
3. music is not a fight. it is born out of love.
4. your is underscored by your own comments (ha)
5. there is absolutely no need for this.
goodbye.
