Well, as onerous as Queeg is, were you to address a captain in the US Navy at the time period of the film in the manner you suggest, you would have been in very serious trouble.

The captain here is obviously in the wrong, but your behavior suggests a reason why Britannia might no longer rule the waves.

I have served on this ship, with this Captain. His name wasn't Queeg, and it wasn't World War II, but holy cow this is familiar. The Caine Mutiny book was a popular read on deployment. Turns out that he got himself fired, although not until he'd ruined (by my count) about ten fine officer's careers.

Very good book. Just finished reading. The movie looks to be worth watching as well.
