  • this is what i listened to while storming solitude with the stormcloaks... lol :3

  • A symphonic piece from a folk metal band... so epic

  • Stalingrad, Waterloo, Bastille, Poltava, Stamford Bridge,

At Manzikert it all would end.....no tengo palabras para describir esta canción.....

  • OMFG, one of the most epic music of the history of metal!

  • What a fucking epic song.... Turisas, please make more of this

  • Too Epic

  • I bought this album and I LOVE IT!

  • /watch?v=NFJuV6K5ty8

    haha ;)

  • Their songs are like unsinkable ships. ! The end of the chorus is amazing. As musical orgasm haha ...Dzięki za ten kawałek:)

  • The climax at the end with the choir is my favorite part, but the lyrics there are terrible.

  • I don't understand something:Didn't the varangian guard leave Constantinople in the 13th century? But the ottomans invaded Constantinople in the middle of the 15th century...So why this song??Ok they mention MAnzikert but that was not the end of the byzantian empire. It lasted for another 400 years..

  • @selphiron Yes, but afterward, the empire went into decline. It represented the top of the hill, and everything afterwards went to shit.

  • I need to make an epic Turks v Byzantines MTW2: Stainless Steel machinima to this. Plenty of Varangian Guards in the Byzantine roster of course.

  • this song is so awesome i've listened to it like 30 times today!! i love it!!

  • Best album from the group yet.

    For mother Roma

    and the USA.

  • @TheLegioXII Not Roma. The roman Empire was divided. The east part evolved into Byzantion, an Empire with a Greek Identity. The capital was Constantinoupolis (City of Constantinos). This song is about the fall of the Empire in 1453 with the last Emperor odly being a man named Constantinos.

  • @romanospapa Byzantium. And the empire was called the Byzantine. The Emperor Constantine had Byzantium renamed Constantinople. Also, there were at least eleven emperors named Constantine, so it's not really odd.

  • @Thyunda Actually it was called the Roman Empire. There might not have been all that much in the way of Roman identity or culture there but the official name for the country was the Roman Empire. The name Byzantine Empire is a construction of later historians. The fact that they claimed this title was a fairly big point of contention in medieval, especially early medieval history.

  • @romanospapa Dude I know the freaking history spare me the lecture. Rome and Greece were similar enough that they might as well have been one. They called themselves the Romans for a reason.

  • The best lyrics of turisas.

  • that is one of the most epic songs i've ever heared

  • If they ever for some reason make a movie about Dragon Age or any elder scrolls movies, turisas needs to do the soundtrack

  • If i had to make a list of my top 10 songs, this will definitely be on it.

  • VARANGIAN METUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUL!!!!!

  • This is one of the few times that you can actually use epic to describe a song.

  • Hahaha the doofus singer's clean-vocals are so goofy. The music isn't bad, but those vocals are awful.

  • @eric20ike i think he's got an awesome voice, and this band is more than awesome

  • one of the best clean vocalist in metal! epic.

  • Except for this song, I think the other albums were better. This album is not bad at all, but this is the only song that STANDS UP AND FIGHTS the other albums songs.

  • EPICH CHOIR

  • Wow!!!! I am happy that I ordered this as Vinyl LP record :D

  • Growls FTW. The vocalist in this band is amazing because of his beautiful clean vocals and powerful growls. It wouldn't be the same without those...

  • @HerrUhyre

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I love that classical touch they gave their songs. There's just so much variety so that it's never getting boring. The songs kinda remind me of LOTR, they're just epic!

  • @HerrUhyre It's definitely different, but...the new flavor is just as well expressed, I think. Might be a bit more of an acquired taste for most Turisas fans, but the album is still very well-done.

  • EPIC!

  • I hate the "chorus" because you're about to jizz but then the total epicness stops when the growling part starts

  • @moe5513 Well it is symphonic metal, if you don't like growls find yourself some opera :P

  • @Roibeirt duuuude, I love growls, but that part don't fit in at all

  • @moe5513 The growls made this song dude. It accents the horror of the things this empire have done, and the sad poetry of the atrocities they've commited, all on the basis of simply serving their empire.

  • @SaotaTheSangheili yeah don't care about symbolic shit. anyway, the song would have been better if they had made the "out of the ashes..." part longer, then they could add whatever growls they want. Imo

  • @moe5513 Well if you don't care about symbolic shit, which is what they fucking work their hardest on, then you're not a true metal fan. Get the fuck out.

  • @SaotaTheSangheili lol. listen to true metal like manowar and find the deep meaning in their music. grow up

  • @moe5513 dude ¬¬ every metal band is ''metal'''!!

  • @hayabus111a yep, agree but it's just MUSIC! Do you have to care about lyrics to be a "true metal fan"? How can then 90 % procent of you guys even listen to korpiklaani and finntroll? know i can, I speak both languages.

  • @moe5513 well, i'm not a metalhead just for listening to the lyrics, i guess i like songs or music with deep meaning and truth lyrics w/awesome melody. Finntroll for example, maybe i don´t speak their language, but i just look on the dictionary and then i translate the text. But like i said, being a metalhead it´s not just for the lyrics

  • @hayabus111a thank you, that was my point :P

  • @moe5513 it's k \m/

  • @moe5513 I do listen to Manowar you jackass. That's how I got introduced to Turisas.

  • @SaotaTheSangheili Good for you but do you think their lyrics are deep and meaningful?

  • @SaotaTheSangheili Dude Totally agree! I love Turisas And how they can write a narrative with any song they write!

  • 5:36 - 7:08 FUCK YEAH!!!

  • ....and in the end of that "musicall"...standing ovation

  • The whole album really reminds me of an epic movie. March of the Varangian Guards as intro, Stand Up And Fight as the part in the middle, this song as the great battle, The Bosphorus Freezes Over as an ending, Broadsword as epilogue and Supernaut as credits song :P

  • godlike! ... all albums are awsome ... turisas rulz!

  • <3 5:40 - Maybe the best 97 seconds in history of Metal!

  • @johnrancore it is sweet ey but mate listen to rhapsody of fire

  • @joel20596 i know rhapsody of fire very well! I've got all albums by them and they're awesome but Turisas is much more varied which is outstanding!

  • Overall I liked the other albums more, but this and a couple other ones are beyond incredible.

  • I can't stop thinking about a musical when I hear this song xD

  • /metalgasm

  • Orgasmusic

  • @polpfp666 It's one of the best songs ever.

  • I'm not sure why this album is getting any bad reception with Turisas' fans. I think it's their best work. The sound is more mature and less raw, and I suppose that can take some getting used to. It's amazing to see what they can do with a real orchestra. This album is proof that they can take their style to new places, while still retaining their identity (Like Haeresiarchonte said). The style of the first two albums was so unique that another album of it would have been boring.

  • no comments here bro! \m/

  • I quote:

"-‘End Of An Empire’, possibly the most impressive track on the album, includes a grand arrangement of classical choir, grand piano and even a touch of Theremin to add to the splendor. The songwriting here is a far stretch from the folk metal scene Turisas has been placed in, and secures them as one of the most original acts in the market."

    thats the fucking truth man!

    love it!

  • @HerrUhyre I gotta disagree. This album is truly a masterpiece. Of course, the two others albums were very good, but still "Stand Up and Fight" is just exceptionnal. Funny fact, Turisas sound more like Therion on this album than Therion recently... With elements of Nightwish, too (the true Nightwish, with Tarja), and yet, it still remains Turisas. No no no, this album is definitely a masterpiece. The two bonus tracks are not that great, but the original compositions are wonderful.

  • @Haeresiarchonte Since this comment, the album has grown on me and I appreciate it much more.

  • that's so hot :O

  • @justinbiebersucks420 On a normal video I'd downrate this. On this video however... +1

  • epic.

  • I know all you guys say this album is worse than the other two, but I'd completely disagree. While it's deffinilty A LOT different, this is the direction they're going for, once you accept that, i find you love the album a lot! The music is very theatrical, almost movie like. Yes the lose of the folky elements is upsetting, but It's still a fucking amazing album and will get these guys up there in the symphonic metal world!!

  • @6ixpoint5ive definitely agree, they're going for a new direction which is good. and its not like they've stopped their old stuff, i'm going to see them at download, and they'll definitely do the classics like rasputin and battle metal, but i'm dying to see this song live! going to be epic, especially with 50,000 people singing along in the choir sections!

  • @6ixpoint5ive I also had to hear this album twice to like it.

1st impression was: oh no, different style.. give old turisas back T_T

2nd impression: different but really good :)

  • @HerrUhyre really? i'd actually say this one is much better, but i think thats more b/c of the very synthy sounding orchestra in the last two albums. Using a real orchestra and choir really helped this album imo :)

  • Whatever choir Nygard has doing the choral parts, he should hang onto them. They're fantastic.

  • Anyone here know what the song is about?

  • Comment removed

  • @metfankrizz

Basiclly it's about end of the Byzantine Empire. (Wondering why it happened etc.)

The song has also a little bit deeper message as "everything will end in due time".

  • @HerrUhyre Really? I think this is by far much better than the first two! The lyrics are historically correct and interesting, and their real musical talent is better represented on Stand up and fight than Battle metal or The varangian way. But this is ofcourse just my opinion. :)

  • little bit film-score in this song, but awesome!!!

  • @Soonati what's a "but" doing in your sentence???

  • @polpfp666

they should have sticked with the Battle Metal sound/genre if you ask me

  • loving the new album, Take the Day is my favorite so far

  • EPIC \m/

  • This song is terrific *_*

One of the best song of the year!

  • @HerrUhyre maybe it's because it feels a little too harmonic, there are no real twists in the music,... At least that was what I felt....

it still has its great parts, though :)

  • 3:58 = orgasm

i wish that part was longer

  • This song is like a musical from heaven. The whole album is something you'd be going to theatre for.

  • That choir => musical God mode

  • Love the powerfull parts with the choir, but other then that it was not that good.

  • I swear, next to the first song on the album (the solo) this song is the most epic one on this album. KICK ASS \m/

  • Best track on the new album! Absolutely stunning!

  • Love it! this track blew me away!

  • Ebin!

    me like muchos grandes

  • @HerrUhyre I have to agree, while its not a total waste, I feels as though they really missed the mark conceptually, and to some extent musically. It is reminiscent of Raw Black Metal bands that go out of their way to acheive that untamed sound. In interviews, Turisas has said that they want to explore other styles and concepts, and I feel like they got caught up in this rather then working on making it....well as memorable (in a positive light) as their other albums

  • it's 2011 dude

  • @cobhc246 fixed
