How coincidental, when I visited Barcelona in 2001 I went from Sants Renfe station to Diagonal. I was only six at the time, and even then I was fond of metro systems and I would have liked taking a circuitous route too, but my parents obviously chose to take the L5 three stops directly there. Those trains look new. The rolling stock on spanish systems are very sleek and modern-looking. Too bad CAF doesn't make many trains for my home country, the USA.
