I don't get why everyone says this is butchering the poem. The game wasn't intended to be exactly like Dante's divine comedy. It was made because for as good as the poem was, it never got nearly as much renown as it should have, from TV shows, movies, graphic novels, or video games.

I for one am glad they made this, if they hadn't, I feel another generation would have gone without the realization that a poem can turn into a vicious hack and slash game filled with blood, gore, and tongue nipples!

I haven't played either game but in all honesty I don't get what people get from God of war over this. Replay value, story, concept, I'm not calling it the peak of originallity but this and Darksiders look so much better. God of War gets credit for everything to ever happen to the hack and slash genre. It's as if there are no other games to ever kill a man. GoW butchers greek mythology and I rip on it because I know greek more than anything other in school. People act as if it invented button...

Castlevania lament of innocence, not the best example, but it came out 2 years before the first gow and it STILL got criticized as a rip off! Now it may just be the extremist fanbase and actually the original gow looks pretty badass, but the fact that Darksiders and especially this live in gow's shadow makes my blood boil. ps <3 beat em ups.

What I really like about this game (from the vids I've seen) is the artistic thought put into it and sounds. Dante's voice when he strains is really well done and the music is fitting.

@Homeboy554 Cmon it's really not hard to do infernal in ressurection mode. All his relics/unholy/holy abilites are maxed and he can keep divine armor almost up all the time with ciacco bile relic. I would love to see the guy go through infernal classic style to see if that's "easy".

@TheKaiger No, this is my second playthrough of the game. You can choose to carry over your previous Unholy/Holy trees to your next playthrough once you've completed the game. I don't think you can max out both trees in one playthrough.

That's Divine Armor. You get access to it by putting enough points in the Holy tree. It has 3 levels, one point each. It gets stronger with each point you put into it.
