  • i use this all the time for body building with a smith machine for time under tension i call it a somersault squat

  • I saw Marilout Prevost doing this exercise in the background on one of Poliquin's other vids. interesting . . .

  • what is this for? seems pointless.. ??????

  • @adarqui posterior chain

  • @pepe9891 : why were rdl's/ghr's/goodmornings/actual squats not good enough? im confused.

  • @adarqui yeah I agree, what are the benefits over doing back/front squats and RDLs? I would think you would have a big load restriction.

  • @adarqui

i was thinking the same thing

  • @drkthms1 As far as I am aware, this exercise is a WARM UP up for lower body work, not an actual exercise performed in the main body of the session.

  • @adarqui I can't believe everyone is having a hard time with this one, it's for an Olympic Snatch.

  • @StrengthCoachChet : loooool.. not many camps utilize that to assist in snatch, seems like a waste of time.

  • @adarqui If you know who Coach Roy is, it isn't.

  • @StrengthCoachChet : hardly any camp uses that in their progression.

  • @adarqui The Bulgarians use it, it has been used for decades. Coach Roy is prominent in his field without question. I would suggest you research instead of playing response tag with me.

  • @adarqui it wouldnt be a main exercise,it seems like its designed to teach a particular aspect of a main lift or correct some deficiency.Given that case,it would be used as needed.

  • i really think you'd be sacrificing a lot of load to be performing this correctly i mean the thought of loading up a few 45lb's ers all leaning on your hip flexors...i dunnno ill give a go when im bored lol.

  • Haven't seen anything like that! What is the purpose/goal of this exercise?

  • @SGWeightlifting good for increasing posterior chain flexibility

  • @13coxy13 agreed

  • @SGWeightlifting help to develop proper form in the squat.

  • fantastic exercise Pierre
