Wiimote was designed for same room gameplay, with the manual saying 10 foot range I think. But if the true range is over 400 feet, then I'm hoping the U pad will also have a ridiculously long range, even if tehy say its designed for same room.

Yeah, original Bluetooth was meant for more than just hands-free and accessories, more like wifi. Therefore it had a much greater range. Once it found its niche, they reduced the range in teh next version.

the effective range of bluetooth is about 100m. the effective range of the infrared sensor is 5m. i have found you can reflect the beam of stuff like windows and mirrors

To all non believers, this is real, yes, the buttons and controls won't work from that far away, but the motions will still work as long as your controller is facing the sensor bar and not in like a completely different direction.

Every part of the remote will work. The only thing is that the remote can't see the sensor bar that far away. You can be facing any direction. The motion works even if you don't have a sensor bar at all

Yea this video is very probably real, the wiimote uses real revolutionary technology not like the sixaxis crap, the wiimote uses INFRARED light to pin point the motion, in the video i saw a big outside light that may be producing enough infrared light and the wiimote with more infrared light works even better.

Since these remotes ARE Bluetooth devices, in theory it is possible to have the advertised range of a Class 1 Bluetooth device (being about 100 meters) That of course is in theory, the Bluetooth signal can't really go through walls.
