A disgrace LA climbed off at the bottom. We drove down from Bray in the early hours that morning and like everyone else stood around mostly to see LA. I just posted about it again on VeloNews. Anyway I heard we paid LA 5 million euro to come over??? I don't know how true that is but I wouldn't put it past the like of McQuaid and whoever to swing it for him! Thanks for the post! Better than any of the clips I managed to record!! Cheers! :)

@stesalmon73 Yes it was a bloody disgrace and McQuaid new he would not climb St Patricks as well......he was brought for the attraction element i guess.He gave some stupid reason for doing it then, Greg Lemond done the same in the Nissan, got off his bike in Waterford before the finish. Im not sure about the 5 million but one year after the tour he got 110,000 euro for appearing in a criterium in Switzerland.

@cycletheroad the story I heard it was a big, if not the main, reason why the proposed 5 stage tour was cut to 3, the money splashed out to yer man meant they could only afford to put on the 3 days at a push. All hearsay and rumours but I've no doubt whatsoever there was some dodgy goings on an us the public suffered once more! anyways its jus such a shame we cant put one on anymore. Sure what can ya do? Thanks again. Hope u enjoy the year ahead. It's gonna be a good one for the boys in green!
