thx for posting this great video - I'll be trying this repair on my garage side-door very soon; this vid has convinced me I can make this repair without replacing the door frame.
This is exactly what i needed to see. i have a question though, how did you get the patch piece to match the profile? or did it? it looked like plastic (like you said) but with a wood core.
