What happens next - How do you interface with the computer and ultimately control the game interface? Search around forums is pointless if you don't have a clue what your looking for - Is there a book you might recommend?
Maybe a group of people can get together and write a well structured book or site - something better than a thrown together forum widget?
I worship you. When I was young, I used to do machine tool work, TIG, MIG, etc etc.. and worked on airplanes but never went to engineering school and instead became a genetic engineer. I really wanted to design airplanes. I love this kind of stuff. Having one of these in my shop would make me a very happy man. I envy you sir :)

The cost is not nearly as bad as I expected. Of course in British Pounds that means about 4500 USD but still.. not bad. I was expecting 10K+

It was not cheap, about 2200GBP + accessories and freight but then again the resell value doesn't differ to much from the sticker price so it's ok.
I'm just a little bit older than a "kid" so that helps of course, money wise that is :-)
