  • I loved my Young Marine Boot Camp, made honor recruit and now I can't wait to join the real deal in a couple years

    YM Cpl Voigt

  • The Young Marines is a great program and is great for kids and young adults from all walks of life.

    Former YM MGySgt Valdez

  • The young marines is a great program. Most people woul assocsiate age with rank but Im an 11 year old sergent. Westover YM

  • I am sure you appreciate the program, but what make you different from the children that are recruited into war in Africa and the Middle East? Just because you are defending American values (capitalism and overconsumption) suddently makes it ok? You should be joining the boyscouts and you would learn the same ideals but without the war-connotation.

  • I am sure you appreciate the program, but what makes you different from the children that are eventually brainwashed and recruited into war in Africa and in the Middle East? Just because you are defending American values (capitalism and overconsumption) suddenly makes it ok? There is a definite double standard here and as usual the general Yankee popultaion never see it. Blind fools. Join the boyscouts instead!

  • im not saying anything bout the bout scouts but there is a complete and total diffence. we do not learn about war. we teach marine corps values and Ym values. Honer. discipline. strengh. integrity. we teach the same as the millitry but as you falsly stated, with out the concept of war

  • i remember i'd see these kids coming through the chow hall on camp hansen. i was wondering what that program was all about. hmm

  • I wish they had that or military school or sumtin in Australia

  • MCJROTC better

  • yes it is

    c/cpl swafford

  • i come from okinawa and i was in the young marines lol they said something about camp foster at the end we had to compete against camp foster to graduate my platoon all rode in a small mini van to our camp site while it took 3 fully loaded busses to get all of foster there and we still won Semper Fi yooung marines!!! ooh rah!

  • NOBODY GET MAD AT ME, THIS IS MERELY MY OPINION!!!

I think Young Marines are a little unreasonable in their rules regarding uniforms. They aren't allowed to wear Dress Blues or MARPAT because they aren't real Marines. Sure..sure...but MCJROTC is allowed to wear em! MCJROTC is allowed to shoot guns!

Now I'm actually in neither (YM or MCJROTC) so I really cant talk. But anyways, thats just what I think. Oh and the Marine Cadets in the ACA are allowed to wear MARPAT and Dress Blues also.

  • Yes it kinda stinks we dont get to wear them but that just drives some of us to want to go in the Marine Corps so we can wear them ;) I acctually like that we wear the old style cammies because we have to put 20x more effort to make them look good with shining the boots and ironing. The down side is some Young Marines don't put effort in and their uniforms look like crap with the loose sleeves(when rolled up) wrinkled uniforms unshined boots. Guess it depends how much your willing to put in.

  • not mad at you but this is my opinion to yours...you said it, they are not real Marines and they dont do this for credits like the HS kids...why would you wanna teach a kid to shoot weapons, not a good thing, they are there just to learn discipline not be in combat.

  • no one seems to get that

  • i wish we had something like that when i was a kid... boy scouts were like hitlerjurger

    hitlers youth

  • The Young Marines have been around scince 1958so they might have been just not in your town.

  • well i think tht in 1958 we were probaly still in new england

  • i used to be in the Tustin Young Marines in 99-00

  • I have been in the Young Marines for 3 years. The Young Marines is the best youth program in the country. There is no indoctrination at all, we just learn discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

  • must rather be a young marine than a boy scout....

    OOHAR!

  • sorry,meant OORAH!

  • Ahh.

Reminds me of my time as a YM/RI

    Hey there Young Marines

    You motivate me!

    Keep on keeping on.

    a highly motivated YM/GySgt

  • do you mean Young marines Rhode Island??? I used to be in there! it was near providence! holy crap!

  • To all the Young Marines that read the comments on this link: Ignore the negative propaganda and hold your heads high. People that post this kind of stuff are not conservative or liberal; they are just plain ignorant and miserable. They get their pleasure from others pain and suffering. Do yourself and them a favor and do not reply to them, as this is what they want you to do. Semper Fidelis.

    J Johnson, Commanding Officer PBYM

    Cpl, USMC (01-06)

  • jjohnson hooyah! I'm a Sea Cadet and I must applaud you for that wonderful speech. Your words ring true.

  • how would you know what nazi germany was like you fucking dumbass

its all vouluntary, you have to sign a contract to even get to when they start yelling at you

  • yea... and your going to say the BoyScouts are nazis too right lol.

  • This feels reminiscent to Nazi Germany...
