I worked there over the summer, and the spotlight shines down on as always at a same certain point in the music after the door closes. It was pretty good working on the attraction to be honest and I have to say we did have to go through these safety procedures because if people were standing and leaving it was automatically causing the ride to stop, so that was not our faults!! :)

omgosh this is the worst Carousel of Progress experience ever. However, it wouldn't have been that way if people would learn just to follow the simple rules Disney has laid down for them. It's not hard. Just like they say in Jungle Cruise, Bend your knees and let gravity do the rest.

Inside of the COP, there are motion pad sensors in the floor which detect movement while the show is being operated, per cycle. If motion is detected, it prevents the ride from functioning normally. These people who are leaving are the rude ones, and the Cast Member handled this perfectly, in my opinion.

now at 2:19 I saw the spotlight that focuses on the host/hostess before the welcome narration plays was on, does that spotlight turn on when the host/hostess gives a saftey spiel, or does the host/hostess signal it to turn on?

@jedi725 It turns on automatically about 1:30 before the Carousel rotates. That allows us enough time to spiel to the guests, then still have the show. The whole thing is timed.

What pisses me off is when they say NO FLASH PHOTGRAPHY and people completely ignore it when there is obviously a REASON for the rule!

Example : I was at the finding nemo musical yesterday & they annouced "For the safety of our performers please NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY" As soon as the curtain opened & the first performers came out the woman behind me took a picture. I turned & glared at her. She put the camera away & didn't take it out again for the rest of the show.

If you are in support of the Disney Castmember: You are a cast member and you understand, or you have some common sense about you.

If you are not in support of the Cast member asking the guests to sit down (for their own safety) while the ride is in motion: You're 1. an idiot & 2. probably a guest.

This is so EPIC, Such a win. First of all who goes to WDW and pulls this kind of a stunt. I don't blame the CM for flipping out, the people we're down right rude, He asked over and over again for them to stay seated , If you have trouble following simple directions then maybe you should not be functioning in society at all. It is a known fact WDW if you have a emergency and need to leave a attraction to locate a CM, AND THEY WILL SAFELY GUIDE YOU TO A EXIT!

I am totally on the CM's side and understand that it must be terribly frustrating when people don't listen but part of me wonders if the anger in his voice didn't chase out at least half of the guests. I hope he didn't get fired, but if he can't handle the stress he probably needs to work a different position. A CM is not allowed to get angry like this so maybe something else has to be done with the attraction.

Maybe there should be more signs in the boarding area about having to stay seated or remind people of the length of the show (a la Splash Mountain & Ellen's Energy Adventure). I was at CoP last weekend and had the same voice do the same thing... could have been a "kinder" voice... he kept waking me up :-|. I understand the safety thing but the attraction is now kind of ruined for me.

I've worked here for 7 years.. People do this all the time. The guests can seriously hurt themselves by exiting not to mention we have to reset the whole ride..AND its annoying. Cant blame the CMs here for getting mad , people are just dumb :)

As A former Disney Cast Member, we all know that safety comes first, especially when it comes to an attraction. To everyone who said the CMs should be fired, your probably the FIRST ones that would not go in the Mansion stretch room when the doors open even though you CLEARLY See an empty room in front of you. You would probably be the first guests to go under chains to save your precious legs from walking thereby disrupting guests queue flow. SO STFU

Ughhh This is what i DON'T miss about working the parks. Guests think that no park rules or safety issues apply to them. ALL the guests have an entitlement issue and have no clue how thier actions and lack of thinking will affect the attraction operation and the other guests' experience. The CM had a right to lose it! We would lose it all the time at Haunted Mansion for guests not lisening to ANY CM directions. We aren't yelling to waste our own breath you dumb fuck guests.
