  • MY FREAKING G STING WONT TO BE IN TUNE

  • how to hold the ukulele if you are 6'4" and got longer forearms than you?

  • I have just brought a MAHALO ukelele but it doesn't seem to want to tune--the pitch is all wrong--I notice it also has plastic strings, and I've ben fiddling for hours trying to make it work--any tips?

  • Hey big fan of your channel, I recently Got a MAKALA UKULELE and have been playin it every day. But when my step bro isn't around i cant tune it my self. I know I can use a guitair tuner which I have but I was wanting to tune it myself by ear. I practice tuneing all the time but I can't tune it by myself yet.

  • I have a thin soprano uke and i'm a female and i am struggling to hold it. any advice? i don't remember having so much trouble when it was a normal thickness uke but i don't think i was so focused on the right technique when i had it.

  • It would be the same with a ukulele soprano?

  • arrrgh.. i just snapped my G string =.=

  • My g string doesn't go anywhere near that high... it gets up to a certain point and just stops.... I simply can't get it to a high g.

  • just to answer people's general questions, you can tune a ukulele with a piano or a tuner. You may want to buy a tuner that attaches to the top of the uke (works for guitars also) so it will tell if you are flat or sharp, as opposed to using your ear and a piano or chromatic tuner.

  • I got a Harmony ukulele from my friend's grandma, and its awesome.

Wat do u think of tht brand??

  • This sorta helped. I bought a Lanikai LU-21 yesterday and I can never get G and C tuned right. I always have E and A pretty okay. Help? :)

  • thanks dude this helped. i liked the intro song. chords?

  • I recently bought a Mahalo Ukulele. It came with palstic strings and I've been working on tuning it for hours and can't seem to get it right...would the plastic strings be the problem?

  • @ConverseAndMahUke You have to pull along the strings to stretch them put. Sometimes they are coming loose at the tuner or bridge. If it has the tuning keys that come out of the back of the headstock you may have to tighten the screws. Let me know if you need more advice or if that doesn't help. You may want to get a new set of strings and follow the instructions on our stringing video- Aloha

  • @HawaiiMusicSupply

what is the chord progression in the intro of all of your videos? I really like it!

  • can you tune it with a normal chromatic tuner?

  • @shanekerchen yes

  • Finally got it tuned! Thanks for the help.

  • @lucyp166 Sorry for the delay. Call us and we can help. (808)622-8000

  • @lucyp166 how long have you had it and maybe it's ur tuners, if it's not geared tuners, I recommend you switch to some geared tuners. PEACE! hope I was at least a little helpful

  • thanks a lot!!!!!! your video really helped!!!

  • comment to those who don't know: new strings made of nylon, (steel sometimes but mostly nylon) stretch a lot when they're first used and it takes a good hour or so of tuning to get em right. Sometimes longer.

  • I just got my uke today. It's a Lanikai. I've tried a billion different videos, and I still can't tune it. I keep trying, and I really don't want to break the strings.

  • @kimbasaurusrex0 aptuner . com/cgi-bin/aptuner/apmain . html this is a pretty ok tuner if you have a microphone that can be plugged into your computer

  • @kimbasaurusrex0

    i have a lanikai too :D

  • @kimbasaurusrex0 Are you still having problems tuning?

  • @HawaiiMusicSupply No I'm not having anymore problems. My brother bought me a tuner for my birthday. But thanks for asking. :)

  • This guy, he's a pretty helpful guy. I like this guy. This guy is some kind of helpful dude guy. Look at this guy.

  • @Muslimah33

It's not because you dont have a good ukulele, i dont have a good one and it stays in tune. you just need to keep tuning it until it keeps in tune. it is annoying but stick with it.

  • @elliotwaah no its because his strings are probly not broken in yet

  • thanks, i had all my strings as lower versions of the notes and it sounds better higher up :D

  • very helpful :)

  • How strong is the tension on the ukulele? Is it like a guitar? It's tuned to

    G C E A

but I can press The strings all the way to the body. Should I tune it to the next octave?

  • I cant wait to get mine ^^

Im a guitar player of 1 year and this instrument seems so cool and chill.

  • My A string never seems to be in tune! I can sit for an hour trying and it just won't work!!

  • mine won't stay in tune.

  • @Muslimah33, its probably cos u aint got a good one

  • You might need to tighten the screws in the tuning pegs with a screwdriver.

  • Make sure that when you tune you always start at lower note, tuning up, rather than starting at a higher note going down. If you tune down, your strings will go slack. Hope that helps a little :)

  • @Muslimah33 stretch your strings by tugging on them, you can be firm, but not to the point of breaking the strings. slide your finger under each string and tug on each one--pull the string out away from the body of the ukulele. keep doing this, working your way up the neck and then re-tune your uke. after your strings are stretched out, they should stay in tune better.

  • when i put my arm on my ukulele sitting down, i broke it ;(

  • yeah it's a very fragile instrument

  • wow either your hand is huge or your ukulele sucks... My 8 String Tenor Pono is very sturdy... i havent ever thought that the ukulele was fragile in anyway...

  • so wierd how the 3rd strings higher than the 4th , i play guitar im getting a ukelele in acouple of days i cant wait

  • Subscribed :)

  • No point.He been quiet.

  • can someone please put up a video on how to tune a ukulele from scratch?? im notorious for breaking peoples guitar strings when i try to tune them, and thats exactly how i feel when i try to tune this ukulele i just bought. i keep tuning them higher n higher n they dont match the G the C the E or the A n i feel like the strings r gonna snap.

  • Buy a tuner (an electronic one). They aren't expensive, and that way you won't ever have to guess. You'll know exactly when you've hit the correct note, and when to stop twisting the tuners. There will be no risk of going too tight.

  • how much are they? i plan on getting one.

  • They sell them on ebay for around for about 10 - 20 bucks (maybe even less).

  • is a used tuner worth it to buy for $20? i mean can they break easily and ill end up paying for a broken tuner?

  • It won't be a used tuner. The $20 I quoted was for brand new ones. A used one would cost even less. They don't break easily at all. They really are a wise investment, and there's no reason not to get one.

  • If you feel like they're gonna snap, let them stretch for a day. Nylon isn't like metal strings. They won't break as easily as guitar strings. Plus, most stock strings suck anyway. If it does break, they're cheap. Just let them sit. It's like working a muscle: you have to stretch it out before you work it, or it'll tear.

  • when you want to tune your c string, u have to play the string on the 4th fret. that's an e...and the guitar tuner got an e!

  • is there a chance my uke got fitted with a wrong string? my two middle ones are thick but the C is impossible to tune too :S

  • i cant get my C string tuned....ughh

  • sorry im kinda starting to learn uke :S

  • yo i tried tuning my fender hao`uli uke at this tuning.. and my strings broke.. is this a little too high?

  • Very helpful! I was afraid I might destroy my new uke if I tuned it wrong.

  • are like, tenor ukes and bari ukes tuned the same?

  • Baritone ukuleles are tuned like the last 4 strings of a guitar.

  • Comment removed

  • thank you

  • i think u helped me instead of people telling u wat to do..thx man!!

  • can you play ukulele with a pick coz i bite my nail a lot and its the only way i can get a decent sound

  • Yes you can.....use a thin pick

  • hey, i'm from germany and i bought an ukulele today =) it's very cool, thanks for your lesson, i got the right tuning now =)

  • Now i can tune that lod uke i have in the closet! DOMO!

  • could u make a tutorial for that song u play at the start? it sounds cool

  • agree 100%

  • yeah its kewl

  • thanksss!!!

i always come on this video to tune my uke, its really great cos you dont do it too fast and you can actually hear what its supposed to be!!

    haha, 5 stars :):)

    xxxx

  • I really find this useful because my ukulele seems to de-tune itself like there is no tomorrow

  • Aaron could you do a video discussing the various string options (types, manufacturers, Hi G/Lo G, GCEA vs others) and then discuss or show how to restring. Thx

  • Aaron can you review tuning with a Chromatic tuner? Mine came with no instructions. It appears simple, but a review would be helpful.

    Thx

  • Thank you, I tried a few other tutorials for tuning before this one but this was definitely the easiest to follow.

  • What are the other tunings for the ukulele. There seems to be a few that I don't know.
