  • Hevert von Karajan... Para mi el mejor director de la segunda midtad del siglo 20

  • 0:30 is that an oboe d'amore :O

  • @parodycreator25 No, it's not written for oboe d'amore! Those are Viennese Oboes, they are a little different from the oboe of the french style that you in other orchestras!

  • The BEST New Year Concert ever.

  • I first heard this in the Gay Referee video on Youtube

  • Gay refereee :D

  • 0:55 Alan Shore from Boston Legal?

  • @mathiusdelonge182

    carayan

  • He knows how to conduct the Viennese way ..........just love Karajan !!

  • You gotta love that Viennese waltz rhythm!

  • True Viennese conducting and playing--wonderful to see Karajan enjoying himself.

  • Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful music conducted by a wonderful maestro. Ah I only learned the name of this piece of music less than a week ago, but I listened to it and loved it since childhood thanks to Tom and Jerry.

  • I LOVE THE POWER OF THE TIMPANI

  • I adore this music since when i was a child and my father listened to it and i had no idea what it was......

And with the Vienna Philharmonic conducted by Karajan.....Perfect....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I first hear this creation in a Tom and Jerry episode at the orchestra :))))

  • @Dica11111 Same here. I also loved the music ever since I heard it watching Tom and Jerry.

  • هى فعلا روعه حبيبى

  • ... بس جنان...رائعة.......توم وجيري كمان

  • توم وجيري كمان

  • Co za finezja, koloryt... Sam mistrz Strauss chyba nie wiedział ile można wycisnąć z takiej, ot , uwerturki. Orkiestra doskonała!

  • 8 people didn't like the cough at 00:58 ^^

  • @pennerdwo hahahaha!!!

  • Karajan looks like Bernstein.

  • @TheBeethovenlove

    No, look at his noise:-)

  • @kszabari

    Pardon, nose:-))))

  • @TheBeethovenlove IVE ALWAYS WANTED TO SAY THAT IN MANY KARAJAN VIDEOS (ESPECIALLY WHEN Karajan is more wizened) But i was afraid that people would condemn me, thumb me down, And would tell me not to comapre karajan to bernstein!!!!!

In my opinion, He looks even more like Bernstein when he conducts the 5th symphony with the Vienna phllharmoniker, You can look it up on youtube.

  • @southwestguy223 Everyone is allowed an opinion :) And yea, he certainly does

  • i am not crying sniff sniff; i am just chopping onions.

  • beautiful

  • genial!

  • the oboist kinda looks like michael caine ...

  • Sublimissime!...

  • I'm sorry, but every time I hear this, I think of the gay referee!!

  • Karajan obviously was conducting people whom he had worked with years on end, performing works played many times, in venues very familiar to him. His presence was required as a mere formality. And one other thing few people may be aware of. The resonance of the reflected sound often isconflicting to the audience's ear. Some of his hand gestures suggest to me he is controlling resonance until what he hears is acceptable.

  • Да, это не музыка, Это Музыка, это волшебство, магия... полет души.....

  • Simplemente fantastica esta overtura de Johann Strauss II,tiene gran fuerza en sus notas, ademas que es una de mis predilectas,la escucho a diario.

  • What a magnificent piece of music!

  • Das Wunder karajan!

  • I want those violinists to cut loose with "The Orange Blossom Special" lol

  • Fantastic

  • It's not just music. It's magic.

  • @Generalfieldmarshall And all the composers wove their pieces with different forms and styles, thats why Classical Music is so great. It's so passionate, and its the mind of the composer that makes it great. Where as in "pop" music, its very impassionate all sound very similar between artists.

  • <karajan......inolvidable.........

  • The exceptional performance with excellent rythm of maestro is showing here the true soul of Vienna

  • el mejor director que vo en mi vida la mejor orquesta que escuche

  • tytytthe most beatiful song

  • prachtige muziek gwn weg e :D

  • Normaal houd ik niet zo van Strauss, een beetje een te hoge hoempapa factor, maar deze vind ik wel erg mooi.

  • ik hou just wel van die krachtige klassieke muziek :D

ma rustige klassiek is ook chill ;)

hangt wa van men humeur af e :p

  • this music also appears in tom and jerry

  • I played this opera on march!!!

  • He seems to enjoy himself more than with the VPO than the BPO

  • Once he said: "The Berlin Philharmonic is my wife. The Vienna Philharmonic is my lover".

  • Explaining why he preferred conducting the Berlin Philharmonic to the Vienna Philharmonic: "If I tell the Berliners to step forward, they do it. If I tell the Viennese to step forward, they do it. But then they ask why

  • @TovenAAA which may in fact speak for the Vienna Philharmonic

  • Karajan is the best conductor, lose only to Toscanini, but, Kleiber conduct it better!

But this DIE FLEDERMAUS is terrific!

  • I agree that his fledermaus is terrific

  • Karajan, we MISS YOUUUUUUUUUU !!!

  • Fantastic, great orchestra..

    Fledermaus Overture

    The best..

  • The crucial point is: Who of us has the immense knowledge & outstandig ability to follow & to critisize the "Maestro", although critiscism must be allowed?! Don't see a satisfying solution for this difficult question!

  • The is the vienna phil and they use Akademiemodel oboe. The reed is different from the standard conservatory oboe, so I would imagine that the embrochure is different as well.

  • Thanks alot, that's really interesting :D

  • Three words: Herbert von Karajan

  • and the point and purpose of your comment is........?

  • geez whats the deal with the youtube thumbs down police??

enjoy the music for goodness sakes. Respect other people's opinion and the Conductor for crying out loud.

  • I prefer the tempo on his 1955 Fledermaus recording, with Elizabeth Schwatzkopf -- THE definitive recording!

  • KARAJAN one of the best directors of all times. fortunately we can still enjoy his work thanks to his numerous recordings. so now you can put a thumbs down, because you can better direct an orchestra. or maybe not because you're sitting with your dumb ass in front of a computer watching free videos of hard working and talented musicians and then have the nerve criticising them

  • does anyone know the name of the oboist?

  • Gerhard Turetschek, I believe

  • this is a lot slower than i've heard it in the past. i feel it lagging.

in contrary to what many people have commented, i find his conducted to be somewhat emotionless and without expression. oftentimes he himself loses tempo.

  • @shaylen911 well, this WAS filmed while his health was declining, and he died shortly after this was filmed.

So, he probably took it slower, because he just can't handle a very fast tempo like he used to be able to.

  • Jebać żaboli....Tylko Ruch ChoRzów !!!... HKS Hadziaje raus!!!!!!!!!!!

  • you are right dijkie !!

  • yesterday i watched die fledermaus in the oper of cologne

  • If you like this you will love the whole thing! Some people like it best as a Chritmas

treat. A shame to wait if you can see it sooner.

I saw all but one performances of a one week production in Birmingham (UK)in 1976 or 77 and fell in love with it!

Amateur companies can do it well but for perfection I find professional companies fit the bill. Best wishes.

  • Me río yo de Kleiber. Esta es perfecta. ¿Cómo puede haber empeorado tanto la filarmónica de Berlin en 20 años?

  • APPROVED BY THE ANGEL OF MUSIC

  • Egmont overture(beethoven), William Tell overture(Ravel), Beethoven Piano concerto(no.3 being my fav), Tchaikovsky piano concerto, violion concerto.

  • Ravel?

  • Rossini* sry

  • Can't get enough of The Bat. The part at 2:50, knocks me off my rocker every time.

    Superb.

  • this is done very beautifully. My high school is playing this for our concert and ever since, I have loved this song. I just wish the beginning and the waltz-y part were a bit faster.

  • hey i have a quick question. I am just starting to get into classical music and so far Die Fledermaus is my favorite song. do have any favorites besides this one? Since you seem to know alot about classical music.

  • thanks alot

  • No problem!

  • Check my favorite videos, i have all my classical favorites in there so you dont even have to search for them, i really like classical piano, so youll see a lot of those on there.

  • For a beginner I suggest the Magic Flute overture, Mozart's piano concertos, esp. Coronation and nr. 23; Mozart's symphonies nr. 39 & 40; Beethoven's symphony nr. 6 (there's an excellent version with Karajan, uninterrupted). Beethoven's piano sonatas, esp. Apassionata, Moonlight, Pathetic, Waldstein; Beeth. violin concerto. If you enjoy singing, try Schubert's wonderful lieder (more serious), or the Vienna Boys' Choir with many light melodies. Be welcome and enjoy!

  • if i was you i would listen to peer gynt he was an awesome composer who lived from 1843 till 1907... you HAVE to listen to morning mood and in the hall of the mountain king.

also strauss is a good composer try the song "an der schönen blauen donau"

  • thanks!

  • Peer Gynt wasn't the composer you idiot, his name was Edward Grieg and Peer Gynt was the name of his famous suite he composed.

  • Incidental music to a play by Henrik Ibsen, you mean. :)

  • Yeah yeah sure whatever..smart ass. But you know I am right!

  • I never said you were wrong. In fact, he did comprise a suite of the music, but I'm just saying.

    >:[

  • Doofy dack, duffy dick. Diffy dook, daffy duck.

  • The hell?

  • I will be agressively goofy.

  • Seriously.... How pathetic. This is what dvade wrote, "if i was you i would listen to peer gynt he was an awesome composer who lived from 1843 till 1907... you HAVE to listen to morning mood and in the hall of the mountain king.

also strauss is a good composer try the song "an der schönen blauen donau" "

Umm..... Okay.... First of all it is not Morning Mood... Second of all Peer Gynt is not a composer. Edward Grieg wrote the Peer Gynt Suite.

  • AAAHHHAHAHAHA I've never laughed so hard. thank you for posting that. I Know it was a while ago but hey, a good laugh is always healthy.

  • Morning Mood is a part of Peer Gynt?!

  • yes

  • I like YURI Tremikov- he was with the Lenningrad, now with the Baltimore, I,m not sure, somebody help me.

  • Espectacular

  • Thank you for posting this video, it's important to see. Once you've seen/heard Kleiber, however, there's no comparison...
