  • Then 'ol Viacom got its STICKY hands on it. Buncha Bums. LOL

  • 0:20 AAAH CLOSET KILLER!!!!!

  • 1:30-1:44 remind me of all the great NBC comedies such as Seinfeld.

  • AAHh it's Viacom at 1:38 !!!

  • 0:18 makes me think it's about to be the end of the world ^-^

  • at 1:01 was from MORK & MINDY

  • IMO, I think 1:08 may be the best one. I've never seen it before, that one stood out the most and looked cool.

  • I like logos 0:18 to 0:26. All three of them sound like the climax of a great mystery movie XD.

  • Those have the "closet killer" jingle.

  • Amazing how much its changed from a simple graphic to what they have now.

  • I wonder show the one at 21 is from.

  • Sorry, I meant I wonder what show the one at 21 is from.

  • I started to remember a video of 21 by it self before being this video and another vidoe of the histor of Paramount Television.

  • Am I the only one who actually LIKES the Closet Killer and "Television-Sliding Blue Mountain" logos?

  • That Paramount Television logo at 1:27 is from 1985.

  • That Paramount Television Version at 1:27 is from 1985.

  • I am always amazed by how people can come up with these videos of these obscure yet memorable sequences...what type of closet do you have in your home? It must be as big as a house to store all the videotapes from which you compiled this clip :)

  • man I HATE what they've done to the Paramount logos of today..(watch the end of any episode of Frasier, Entertainment Tonight, etc.)

  • cbs paramount how stupid

  • i know what you mean!! It almost looks like it was made with Windows Movie Maker. And that effect with the slowly moving watermark designs in the background really get the fuck on my nerves.

  • Um, excuse me but why the hell won't your video load??

First time I've ever had this problem.

  • the one from .43 to .50 used to make me cry when i was a little kid.

  • How can you tell what has .43 and .50?

  • um... I meant the ones between 43 seconds into the video, until 50 seconds into the video, if that's what u asked.

  • I finally saw where the seconds are shown.

  • hehe ok

  • Those Closet Killers at 16-28 seconds are just brutal!

  • I agree especially the one at 25 seconds.

  • My spinal cord gets some much deserved

    excercise with the 16-25 bit.

  • Two questions I have:

    1. When did they get rid of the sky blue background with the dark blue peak? AND...

    2. When did they start up with the live shot of an actual mountain top with a purple-reddish hue?

  • I HATE YOU VIACOM!

  • What are you talking about, they're all great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i like the CGI mountain and why it doesnt have the blue mountain with the viacom byline? there is one.

  • The one at 1:07,became Paramount Video in the early 80's,and had really cool synthesizer music.

  • Now THAT's Entertainment!

  • The Paramount "Closet Killer" and the Viacom "V of Doom" slates gave me nightmares growing up. (being diagnosed with autism didn't help either) To this day I still can't watch either without getting on edge, and to this day I still lose sleep over them. How sad is that?

  • I was a teenager when Viacom started using the "V of Doom", so it didn't scare me... just jangled my nerves a little.

Paramount's "Closet Killer" and Screen Gem's "S From Hell" fueled many a nightmare when I was little, though! What were the production company execs thinking when they signed off on those?

  • Paramount CBS looks shit. The ones before that, the colour ones, seen at the end of Frasier, now theres a jingle.

  • Imagine hearing the "Closet Killer" theme at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 AM. Now THAT'S SCARY!!!!!!.

  • I like those

  • The ones at :18-:27 sound really weird...

  • Those are the "Closet Killer" jingles.

  • yeah they freak me out too.

  • That's the infamous "Closet Killer" jingle. Why Paramount would use such inappropriately scary music as an identifier is beyond me.

  • lol the 3D-ish like ones lost clouds in the time

  • Copper20, they have one on Race For Your Life Charlie Brown (1977) still today with a real old Paramount logo to start with the moving scenary of the clouds and scenary of the brown mountain, then it dubbs with the Blue screen Verison.

  • There are 27 logos in all in this compilation:

    1 with old Desilu music

8 split-boxes (including all three "Closet Killers")

    11 Blue Mountains

    1 Lighted Mountain (at 1:07)

    4 CGI Mountains

    2 CBS-Paramount logos

  • My favourite one was at 0:55, because of the music. Also, I think that music would go well with the current logo at 1:44.

  • I like the new one that came out in 2002 . The way the stars fall into formation. It ranks up there some of the best computer animation I've ever seen. That was Great some of those shots brung back memories.

  • Never heard of the one at 1:07 either, but the others, I've seen except the one at 1:26.

  • Most of the Paramont Logos I saw was During STNG

  • Who would have thought that television logos would've made an historical impact, I'll be damned. But the one at 1:07, I've never seen before.

  • 2005

  • how many split box color combinations were there?

  • To me, the scariest 1 is the closet killer, but I see now that the television sliding into the blue mountain might startle some.

  • None of these scare me. I'm not much of Paramount Television, but I saw the 1968 yellow split box one in 1994 when watching Charlie Brown.

  • This Is Real Paramount History, Including CBS Right Now, Fusing with Paramount!

  • My favorite is the one that begins at :59, since it's a little longer than most of the other Blue Mountains.

  • The 1st version of the 1979 music scared the crap outta me! One night before Halloween my parents were watching some show on a local TV Station and that jingle came on and then the station bumperf featuring a jack-o-lanter on someones porch with some scary music in the backgroud came one. I was sacred to go back to the back room! But I'm not anymore!

  • It's Television Service - and it is legit.

  • I still like big blue..The one with the starburst..I've never seen that one before...

  • That Paramount Television Sales...is that legit?

  • Yes; there's a video somewhere here on YouTube that shows its source. Solid Gold used to show the logo after Operation Prime Time.

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH CLOSET KILLER! *runs away*

  • Incidentally - I know this is a silly question but it is something I've wondered - how do you and the other logo harvesters acquire these older logos? It seems syndie re-runs of older programmes use the studios' most recent logos, as do DVD releases (which seems a shame to me). So how did you manage to get hold of the logos from the '60s and '70s? Just curious.

  • The DVD releases of "The Brady Bunch," "Happy Days," and "MacGyver" do have the original ending logos restores.

  • As for Paramount movies on DVD, the original logos are still intact with one noted exception..."Grease" (1978) had the "Blue Mountain" plastered over with the 1995 CGI Mountain with Viacom byline...apparently, the 20th Anniversary print was used, even on the Rockin' Rydell Edition.

  • At least 1 Godfather movie also came to DVD without the original opening logo.

  • Actually, two..."The Godfather" and "The Godfather, Part II" had their opening logos plastered with the CGI Mountain with Viacom byline...the former had the original closing logo plastered over with a still version of the CGI Mountain with the aforementioned byline, while the latter had the original closing logo intact.

  • We own the Godfather movies in that 5-disc set and the 1st movie opens with the full logo.

  • I do, too.

  • I know I'm in a minority here, but I actually LIKED the Blue Mountain logos - never found them scary in any way. (Instead I was unnerved by the H-B Swirling Star logo and the DiC Green Vortex logo with music sounding like someone kneeling on a synthesiser.) I'm also partial to the 1968 Yellow Split Box logo (pre-Closet Killer). Excellent vid, DrClaw77!

  • Finally, the 1974-75 music variant of the second Split Box logo is added, as well as the Mountain Silhouette with the 1979-85 music... AND, the 1982-84 Blue Mountain logo.

  • What major differences in both logos and jingles!

  • How about that...a lot of these logos are still scary!

  • A remember a small paramount logo was at the bottom of the Desilu production cap. That started it all.

  • You took my idea!

  • This is better than the 68-02 version!
