I have always wondered about Jonathan's 'higher plane of existence' and what the book is really referring to. Is it that we have to question our beliefs, question what we take for granted is true?
god i was looking at neil diamond on here as i was bough up on it and came across jonathan livingston, i remember this film i cant belive i forgot about it for so long epic tale that brings a lump to your throat and a great sound track, well i will be going out to look for this film
It is terrible how ignored this soundtrack was... it should have received much attention and awards. Was the lack of attention due to the fact that it was from a "pop" singer? Poo!
This is a wonderful child story...even if you're a 55 year old one.Gooood stuff for grand children.Hey did you get a buzz?Well share then call the little ones about you.You never know the time god will call you.
My Father use to play this alblum when I was a boy and this was my favorite song. I use to sing in church and this song always inspired me to sing. I will share this with my children. Thank you
I have the complete box sets of Mozart, Beethove, Bach, Brahms, and most of Liszt, Tschaickovski and a thousand CDs and I don't think anything I'ver heard rises higher than than these 3 minutes.
I agreed with you...For me is my youth born in 52 ) so 68 was my time...it gives you a spirit ...to go over everuhing...just for that let's make the world better...listening to this song is going above everuthing..sorry for my english..I am french..
With all the recent attention on the Susan Boyle video, I thought you might like to hear Neil Diamond's rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream" (Hot August Night 2-1987). Please read the notes at the finish on the change of lyrics. Video posted above.
This must be at the end of the movie, and Jonathan seems to passing on to the next realm. IOW this is supposed to be a NDE (near death experience) Or maybe he really died (old age). I'ts soo long ago I've read the book.
I've read it in german back then had the LP copied to Cassette and listen to it til it broke.
Haven't heard this for years until a couple of tracks I picked up. It brought memories back and emotions I hardly can describe.
anyone have any idea why this story has not been remade with state of the art C.G.I. and audio? As the one responder said, this tale is timeless. The music is beautiful and the message is more vital than ever.
wow i swear if they ever redo this story with «state of the art cgi and audio» I'll bomb the god damn production company. That ought to put some culture into them or it'll kill them. win-win
@freakinphil coz its about free thinking not following the flock breaking away and working out there is more to life than the ex factor and paying the council tax thats why thye havnt remade it they dont want this message to reach people
Why is it. when looking down from the sky or across it, things appear more beautiful and majestic. It brings a sense of peace, serenity, joy, euphoria and panorama. And how we envy the fowl, wishing we could fly. Somehow Neil Diamond and this score brings it to us, along with a story as old as time.
Beyond words. magic! it is a wonderful picture to show us what might come and is yet still in and around us. a bigger picture of life, as it was ment for all of us...
film et musique superbe!!!

If I were to go out like a "Soylent Green" citizen; it would be with this playing in the background. How can you be stressed when listening to this?

They came in the evening, then, and found Jonathan gliding peaceful
and alone through his beloved sky. The two gulls that appeared at his
wings were pure as starlight, and the glow from them was gentle and
friendly in the high night air.

With CGI or animated motion picture this story would make awesome and of course with the soundtrack that Neil wrote for the picture.
Hope someday this come true.
