when he was pres. half the people in my town lost jobs and where about to lose their houses and to save them they had to refinance their loans from having a loan at 6% rate and then be at 24% i was out of work for 3 years, and if you did find a job it was a $3 per hour. most of our family just rented homes. so we found $3 hr jobs and moved back home to pool money togather to try and save moms house. no money left to eat. and then reagan was elected and fixed the prob. we all got good jobs

America watched helpless as its diplomats were held hostage by Iranian revolutionaries for 444 days. In the rest of the world, from Latin America to Asia, American power yielded to the communist advance. If thats love I'd prefer to be hated.

Well the peace between Egypt and Israel is what he is most directly responsible for, and that has held. Also, recently people citicized Carter for speaking to Hamas, but now Israel and Hamas are much further along in negotiations than they have have been in the past.

Jimmi Carter wasn't really responsible for the economic troubles during his time in office. They were largely a creation out of forces out of his control that were already in motion before he even became President. By the same token (much as I dislike the guy) Bush isn't that responsible for the current economic troubles per se. They are also mostly a product of forces out of his control. Although, with nearly 8 years in office W. had more time to do a few things perhaps. The stimulus flopped.

Reagan's IranContra scandal was about how Reagan made deals to supply the Iranians w/ weapons in return for releasng the hostages. The USSR's collapse was an economic disaster, they simply couldnt spend money at the same rate as Reagans admin. Carter cant be blamed for the economic situation inherited any more than Bush is responsible for fewer sunny days in 08. The recesion of the 70's was cured by inflating the currency to pay Reagan's mil. bloat, and since then thats the way the Fed works.

The President vetoes any form to bring more troops home. Bi-Partisan presidents will get them home if they want them home, not some right wing stern to his beliefs no matter what president.
So until we have another dry economy to complain about in the next 3-5 years our money will go into helping an administration fund private defense contractors(which are just as many as troops) stay in the middle east and us to protect them. Thats why no withdrawal innocent casualties dems will be blamed for.

It's so easy to lay the hardships that you went through on one administration(one term) when quite the same could be said for the Nixon Administration that laid many troubling dilemmas in the Carter Admin's lap (i.e. Energy Crisis, Health Care, Stagflation/Economy, and an overall neglect of human rights/humanitarian issues that the Nixon Admin. failed to acknowledge)
I think the same in that respect will happen for any partisan president, sadly.

when he was pres. half the people in my town lost jobs and where about to lose their houses and to save them they had to refinance their loans from having a loan at 6% rate and then be at 24% i was out of work for 3 years, and if you did find a job it was a $3 per hour. most of our family just rented homes. so we found $3 hr jobs and moved back home to pool money togather to try and save moms house. no money left to eat. and then reagan was elected and fixed the prob. we all got good jobs

Why did Lincoln lose his race for various offices before winning the presidency? Losing an election doesn't necessarily mean you're a poor candidate, nor winning one mean you're a good candidate.

Better President? False. Jimmy Carter was no better than the late John F. Kennedy and Gerald Ford, who were even better than Jimmy Carter, George W Bush and Richard Nixon combined. Also believe it or not, Bill Clinton was the BEST president ever before he screwed up with Monica Lewinsky. Hillary Clinton will be half the level below her husband if she were to be elected President. Ronald Reagan was NOT a bad president either. He had some screw ups but was not that bad, unlike George W. Bush.
