  • I'm considering getting either an ER-1 or a Roland MC-303, which one would you recommend? I'm a total noob to this, if that'd change anything.

  • @MooseHeadMoosic

ER-1 is just drum machine. But Roland MC-303 has drum and synth parts for example pad, lead, bass and FX sound. If you want do anything with sequencer, I recommend you to choose 303.

ER-1 has fat drum sound.(You can check my other videos)

So it depends on your purpose ;)

I've been looking at the EMX-1, too, which has synths aswell, but since this is literally the first piece of hardware equipment I'm getting, I don't want to make things harder for myself by buying overly complicated machinery, and I kinda consider the ER-1 a BASECAMP for the EMX-1, haha.

But, yeah, after looking around a bit, I've found that the MC-303 is actually cheaper than the ER-1, so I guess I'll go with that! Thanks for your reply, by the way!

  • @MooseHeadMoosic

Good decision! Yeah, MC-303 is easy to manupulate. Hope you kick your drum!!!

  • @TIRO141414

So I got an MC-303, but I'm not sure if it's actually working.

Whenever I turn it on, it's automatically set to RPS SET, and I've no clue how to switch to PTN SET. Furthermore, the 3rd digit in the CURRENT LED Display doesn't show anything at all. Have I wasted my money on useless broken hardware, or can is it still serviceable?

  • @MooseHeadMoosic

Glad to get 303, but actually I don't have 303 now. So I try to tell you as much as possible. sorry

You can switch RPS SET to PTN by pushing PTN with "FUNC" or "SHIFT" button together I think.

And the display might be broken...sadly

But if sounds come out properly, it's not useless but serviceable. ;)

  • @TIRO141414

Ah, thanks for your help, again.

It didn't work, and the Octave +/-, PLAY MODE and TRANSPOSE buttons doesn't work either, so I'm starting to think there's some problem with the PCB itself, sadly.

Oh well, better count my losses.

  • @MooseHeadMoosic

Mm, I'm afraid that 303 is broken...

You should claim a company to pay back the cost, I think.

Don't give up getting good music instruments ;)

  • @TIRO141414

Bought it privately. I'll resell it and recover SOME of my losses. ):

  • hi! ¿can you tell me how do you connect both machines to mix the audio? ¿do you use a mixer? Wich kind of it? ty!

  • @kose10

Hi, kose10! Thanks for message. I used Yamaha MW10C which accompanies with Cubase AI4. So it's easy to mix together. Hope it helps u ;)
