I was the Bruno Kirby character, except I was 12. I worked everyday taking care of my Mom and 2 sisters. I never saw my Dad again until I was 35. I never missed him.
RIP Bruno Kirby. Maximum respect, man, to pull of a great emotional vignette like that right in the middle of a very funny scene. It takes skill to pull that off, man. Great actor.
Best Day: There was this girl in my 120 math class in college. She was a Redhead, busty and beautiful. For the whole semester, we never spoke. On the day of our Final, I finally and talk to her. We talked for over 4 hrs. That night, in her room, on her bed, I find out she liked me the whole time too.
WORST DAY: 1 yr later, our anniversary. She died right in front of me. I was going to propose that night. She was going to be my wife. She wanted to be a Mom and teacher. She loved kids I miss her
This scene is in my top 3 list of great scenes TV edits out of movies. The other two are the octopus fight from Goonies and the balloon animal scene from the Mask (the offensive part is about 2.3 seconds and not important, but they drop a 3 minute scene for it).
@nightwarrior1 Actually, I'm 13. My father buys me a copy of the tape "Purple Rain". We listen to it in the car and I fall alseep not even half way through it. The next morning, my father gets me in the car raving about the album/tape. I listen to it and he says to me, "This is soul. This is the real thing." I remember riding around LA listening to that album over and over and my father and I talking and talking. Yeah, maybe my best day.........so far!
I have never had anything close to a best day. I've had some good moments but best day... nothing yet. Worst day was 7 years ago. My wife who cheated on me left me. She called my sister and left with my 1 yr old son while it was raining. I saw him looking at me through the window. She never looked back. That moment, for some reason is the worst. My house and everything I owned burned to the ground and yet that meant nothing. With her, Its like I knew I'd never have what I THOUGHT I had again.
I love this scene. Funny thing is that every single guy my dad's age who went to a Yankee game in the 50's and 60's all say that Mickey hit one out when they went. Now, he did hit a lot of home runs, but you wonder if they selectively added that memory without even realizing it. I think that's kind of cool.
Best Day: My last college hockey game. It was sad and happy all at the same time. I was happy that I accomplished something that I will always carry with me. 3 years of full out, heart and commitment. Sad that is was over. Those days, fun times and teammates would never be the same.
Worse day: Yesterday. I've made some mistakes but yesterday I spent it in Cook County Jailhouse when I was trying to right my mistakes.
Can you answer this question? Whoa! First time I saw the pretty girl on the school bus at 5 years old. What the heck were kooties, except for kids or girls I didn't like!
I met him while we were in line to see "Spy Game" at the Avco theatre in Westwood in L.A.. I told him he was funnier than Robin Williams in "Good Morning, Vietnam". I think he did a few years later.
Mitch's baseball story is true, it happened to Billy Crystal as a kid. Micket Mantle signed his program twice: once that day and once years later when Billy was an adult and famous and they were on the Tonight Show together.
I've had a lot of great days and I can't pick a best one. The worst was the day my Dad died. We got the call at 4:00AM and it seemed like years before midnight came and we could escape that day.
I hate to think there are days yet to come that will be even harder.
Well, I'm sorry to hear that...though if you ask me, there really isn't any harder a type of day than when a family memeber or friend passes away...when that's happened to me, I can at least make it a little better by pondering on the fact they're in a better place, I hope you can think that way for your father.
the part about baseball was added in by billy crystal and was not originally part of the script. He added in b/c of him being a big new york baseball fan. just some trivia there. your welcome
One of the best scenes of the movie.

Best day: each day I realise how lucky I am to share with friends and family, to live.
Worst day: each day I think to my mum and my brother who passed away.
Life is a yoyo.
