@alanheath Well i was driving from France to Estonia so my options were limited, I did have a shovel that broke though. My own rope broke but there was a guy who had a thicker one so he attached it to his tractor if i remember correctly. Place was pretty empty of people and very dangerous to drive through thanks to the roads not being cleaned. Was a fun experience with all the adrenaline that came from driving through thick snow.

I have a collection of VHS cassettes from 1988 - 1992 and there is a lot of material I would like to publish here.

However I am having a lot of technical difficulties. I can record to DVD without difficulty but the problem is in converting .VOB files to .AVI that has both sound and picture or to .WMV that does not use a huge amount of memory.

My PC only has 1MB of RAM. We have professional equipment in the office but it is only mac.

Any ideas of how to do this without incurring too much cost?

@alanheath you can buy USB sticks that have the red/white/yellow cables on one end (connect vcr in there) and one end USB. Then press play on the VCR and record on the software at the same time.

@alanheath alternatively, although not great quality, put a video camera in front of your tv (preferably plasma/lcd), turn the lights off and sound up.

OR, get some sort of sound/voice recorder, put it near the tv, and record sound only, then put it on the computer then using a basic video editor, put something like the album cover as the image (many people do that)
