The Americans would still have gone to war regardless. The British forces were used to capture Basra and that's about it. The Americans would have just sent another intranry and armoured division or two extra if the British Army were not involved.

Exactly, their problem, not ours. The whole thing could've been resolved back in 1991, we had the last Rep Guard regiment in our sites, and what happens, America decides not to blow them to hell.

The Allied force in 1991 included the Saudis and Syrians and the French. Their mission was to remove the Iraqi Army from Kuwait. The Saudis and Syrians would not have agreed to participate otherwise.

If theUS had captured Baghdad and toppled Saddam in 1991 it is likely an insurgency would also have resulted.

That was the principle reason why Bush Senior publically opposed the 2003 invasion his son George W ordered.
