What appears to be a chip in the crown is actually a little bit of gun grease. I don't have the pistol anymore (returned it to Wilson) but I looked over other unedited video clips taken later on and there's no sign of grease or flaws in the muzzle crown.
In the unlikely event there is a flaw in the crown just send the barrel back to Wilson and they'll fix it.
The Wilsons in the background are competition pistols from a couple of decades ago, an Accu-Comp LE in .38 Super from 1986, and a two-tone Master Grade .45 for Limited division from 1992. Both built on Colt pistols.
1:08 looks like the crown has a couple chips in it on the middle right of the bore. If I pay what wilson combat wants for their guns I hope the crown would be a little nicer shape.
ajgranda, I can't recall much difference in felt recoil. Looking at the two videos it appears there is a bit more muzzle jump with the lighter Wilson pistol. As long as the sights track back on target a bit more muzzle jump makes little difference in how fast the pistol can be fired. I'd try shooting them side by side except both pistols have been returned to the manufacturers.
Thanks for the review. Did you feel that the Ultralight recoiled more than the EB Commander MA Exec Carry that you also reviewed? It appeared to be so on the videos.
Well, RIA, SAM, low cost, pretty good pistols. Para, Springer, Taurus, little better, bit more expensive, But there are a multitude of variations getting more and more expensive as you go. Plus they have custom shops. Baer, Brown, Nighthawk, Wilson, SWEET, but you certainly pay for it. Is that tiny bit of extra precision worth the extra price? I can't answer that for you, you'll have to decide.
The way he took that 1911 apart confused the hell outta me. Why wouldn't you take the recoil plug out first so there is no spring tension? The guide rod looked like is wasn't extended. I don't know.
Seems like the cheapest wilson combat 1911 is still over 2600. I've got a kimber and really like it, I think i will just stick to them. Compared to 2600, they seem like a steal.
@sethmckay1 I see what you're saying, but that's kinda like saying the Mercedes sedan is expensive. I really like my Honda. If you're looking for a low cost gun, Kimber is for you. If you're looking for top of the line parts and design, Wilson is the only choice.
@ramtron1775 Couldn't agree more; my carry gun is the Lightweight Champion Op and wouldn't trade it for the world. I'd take the Pepsi challenge against one of these bad boy's any day. Great pistols just way past my budget.
@RiceyMchaggis your right bud, never shot one. Im sure their nice to shoot. But honestly I could care less If my gun could print a 1' ground at 25 yards as long as it hits the guy breaking into my house Im happy. Im sure I could not shoot a 1' group with the wilson either. Im a long gunner myself.
This video skips the field strip reassemby...which is a nightmare.as the spring and recoil sping stop will shoot out of your hand alot!!

@shootcentermass because they're hand fit slide, barrel and frame. you can get a $2500 smith and wesson that blows the 5k wilson combats though

Paying $2500 for a S&W is tantamount to paying $75K for a Ford Focus.
Show me this S&W that is so superior to a WC.

Dave, what Wilson models are in the background while you are disassembling the Ultralight? Did you get to test them as well?

Wonder why they want you to remove the slide stop first rather than the bushing/plug.

Haha. Clearly you've never shot a Wilson. Moreover, let's see your Operator print a 1" group @ 25 yards.
