    Engine

    2.7 L ER-27 145 bhp (108 kW; 147 PS) H6

  • I wish we never sold our red XT. That thing was amazing in snow.

  • My Aunts Friend Had One A Gray One.

  • New England solution. Nice. See? Subaru, please bring back the 4wd and drop the AWD nonsense.

  • Classic commercial!

  • the 1985-1991 Subaru XT was assembled in

    Ōta, Gunma, Japan

  • XT was called Alcyone in Japan.

  • OMG!! I remember this commercial, like it was yesterday. The Subie commercials in New England were awesome..... especially, when they had Mr. Easy in them. I wonder whatever happened to him. :)

  • 80s jap cars are wat better then todays jap cars. todays suck!

  • @lucasorcorey Exactly. Back in the day, most were sporty and RWD. That's why I own 2 RWD '80's Jap cars..... an 81 Toyota Corona(not Corolla) and an 87 Nissan/Datsun 200SX... both RWD. The new Jap cars are FWD, uglier, dull looking and heavier. The only good new Jap cars are the Nissan GTR, 370Z, Mazda RX8 and Mazdaspeed 3, Subaru WRX Sti, Mitsubishi EVO, and the new Honda CRZ. Toyotas WHOLE lineup SUCKS ASS... not ONE sporty or interesting car available.

  • @boofdfast i agree

  • @boofdfast mazda change their name to mazdaspeed? anyhoo was this the old 3 series car they had, i believe it was called a 323?, loved them. i had one as a rental. a fun car to drive i must admit

  • SO glad you posted this. I remember watching this when it came out. One of the few commercials I ever remembered when I was that young. My Dad bought this car in 1987... thing was pretty sweet.

  • it is a typical 80's japanese car

  • @subzero92MK If you mean cool looking, fun to drive AND reliable. I'll agree with you. :)

  • @boofdfast i mean the design

  • @subzero92MK At least, it's better looking than the Subarus of the 70's... now, those were hit with the ugly stick. lol

  • @boofdfast lol that's sure

  • sharp car....

  • great commercial!

  • I built a 1/24 scale model of this car.

As it was, the XT/Alcyone/Vortex (different names for different markets) was an intriguing design, particularly the selectable 4WD versions, which went into 4wd mode either by selecting a button, or by turning the windscreen wipers on!

  • i owned one of these beautiful cars..can i see your model?

  • I'll be putting a video of it up...

  • hey thanks

  • @joh2 wipers on?
