Ive only watched some of the original show and this seems to have most of what I like and gotten rid of most of what I disslike :)

It's strange how you don't see any intermediary suits between the human foot soldier and the giant ass indirect fire magnets. But it's nice to see in at least one series where the Gundams aren't an end all answer aside from giant floating ships. I just wish there'd be more ground vehicles in this though.

I like how this series focus on regular forces other then a few people owning the whole war. Just like how star gazer was. But can't wait to see this short ova series.

Only one thing about this show bothered me but my memory might be off since I haven't seen it in forever. I just didn't like the humor. I think the guys were laughing that he ripped off his arm to fight for it right? I just thought, your friend is fighting for his life and screwed up his ms to fight some guy and you're giggling about it. Just ruined the tension for me. Anyway, absolutely LOVE this design and they did a good job showing that the other pilot was far more skilled.

I realy liked this series because it wasn't about zipping about in space with overpowering gundams or space canons that could fry the planet. the gundams are basic machines with realistic weapons and armor desings.

Not really. The only times Gundam (at least UC Gundam) has been remotely realistic was MS IGLOO and 0080. 08th MS Team just had some sand in the gears and lolspiderGouf.

take a look at those Gundam (G) they seem like everyday military weaponry not some hi-tech robot that can beat almost anything, and this goes without saying but you really need SKILL to use these kinds of mechs.

this show was quite a shocker to me when i saw the Gundam being like every other mech here (nonthless it still is the strongest but i guess they decided to tone down the gundam here.) i mean compared to Seed Shiro would lose but he definetly has more skill than that wimp Kira, heck its his Gundam thats strong not him.

I think 08th MS Team is the best in my opinion, it focuses on "real" characters rather than enhanced characters that we see in Gundam Wing. Also, it goes into a more "nitty gritty" aspect of war where as Gundam Wing is just countless mobile suits being thrown at and destroyed by the main characters.

the guys in Wing aren't enhanced. They are one of the most normal pilots in the Gundam franchise. No newtype or coordinator abilities to help them out. however they do have preety beefed up Gundams.

So, no, the focus is not the gundams, but rather the characters themselves; a group of ragtag misfits caught in the ground war during the One Year War.

In fact the gundams themselves are pretty different, instead of ace MS, these units are more like REAL machines.

This is by far one of the best openings in all gundam history. Best part is when the chorus of the song begins, and the gundams are going down with the parachutes-that's classic!!

I am a fan of Gundam Wing and Gundam SEED, but seriously you cannot outbeat the classics. 08th MS Team and Gundam 0083 just have that rawness about them that makes you appreciate classic storylines. Those are two short series, but they outdo any other gundam series.

Actually I'm watching Victory Gundam right now, and it isnt a fraction as bad as Gundam ZZ was. Seriously, that series first two thirds was so fucking bad, I felt like tearing my eyes out.

Agreed. I just watched it and it already topped all the gundams (and quite a few top favs in general too!). It was short, but surreal. Everything about 08th oozes goodness!
