  • Dude this isn't hard, I'm looking for hard questions like from numbers 100 - 9999 what is the probability of choosing a number with a zero

  • How does 1 study for these type of questions, and all Sat math questions ??

  • I can't see anything hard about this...

  • omg i'm in year 11 and we're far pass this stage

  • I can see touching on some of this stuff in college. But what usually happens to most of us because of how intense and how much time it takes to learn this stuff only to forget so much of it come exam time is:

A: We drop out of college

B: Are overall GPA is ruined so forget transferring to a tier 1 university.

    C: We change are major.

This is sad because only math teachers need know all this stuff. Sure Engineers and Scientists use it but that's what a computer(s) are for.

  • That's just a simple parametric equation question.

Child's play. (Literally since the SAT is aimed at Children).

  • haha college maths ? i did that in highschool

  • @MrPolaroidPictures this is SAT problem and not a college problem

  • this is piss easy... Theres very little algebra easier than this.

  • > 30 sec. to solve ..

  • y=3+2t y-3=2t (y-3)/2 =t

Now you substitute (y-3)/2 for t in the equation x=5+4tt or x=5+4(y-3)(y-3)

    Its elegant...and that is algebra.

  • x in terms of y just means you solve t for y. Once you do this you can substitute y for t, this allows you to solve x in terms of y.

  • That's a pretty easy problem, it's a text book problem, as the 4 cancels right out and then it's adding the polynomials and then use factoring (if you can), quadratic formula, or completing the square.

  • guys this problem is not hard and trigonometry is hard and need more thinking

  • fail. If this is hard... go to elite please.

  • this doesnt seem that hard. but what rules make this happen. im just confused how the process works. what should i study to learn how to do this because this explanation didnt help me

  • @Tranquil787 you should study a good Algebra book.

    These are Algebra rules applied

Do you need help in Algebra?

  • wow, that´s really easy. I wish the test I´m going to have to pass to get into college were that easy!! LOL

The easiest math problem from my last math test was harder than this one!!

  • i learned how to do this kind of problem in middle school =/ I want to go to a college thats that easy

  • I just got 17, and I have to say these maths are

    Ridiculously easy.....

  • Don't look at the answers?!?

What is shown here is how to solve the problem - but that's not necessarily the best (=quickest correct) way to take this test.

Since x = one of those 5 expressions in terms of y, that holds for EVERY value of t. Trying just a few (just one usually) will find the correct answer almost immediately. Try to keep the numbers small and avoid fraction to be both accurate and fast.

  • (cont)

Small integers: I'd use t=-1, so that y=1 and x=9. Plug y=1 in those 5 expressions and only A gives you 9, hence A is the correct answer. Fast, quick, and simple.

  • Hey, that is easy! In Russia we solve such problems at 8-9 grade...

  • This looks like parametrics!

  • lol this is not that bad.

    im in precal in highschool

  • dude, cut down on the distortion.

  • @metalpayne3 what do you mean by that sir? Please explain

  • I did that in under a minute. Very easy.

  • Easy

  • wait is this seriously one of the hard questions? like the ones that tend to appear at the end of the section> because it seems too easy to be that kind of question

  • lol what 10th i sould said 8th!!!

  • A good student in Greece can solve that from 10th grade... lol

  • WAIT heres my super easy math problem evreyy can get this right!

    cheeurga= awesome day!!

  • i suck at math and still got a 4.46 GPA?!

  • good video! This could be a very tricky problem - however for tips on how to do this quick and easy with almost NO MATH, make sure to watch our channel and tutorials for SAT test prep!

  • Im taking calclulus 2 and i did this problem in 20 secs

  • Good problem. I had a similar problem like this where I had to use a system of equations to solve for a variable in terms of another variable. So if you don't understand this, learn it because it might show up on your SAT. ; )

  • its not that hard just breakit down and take some time and u wil get it

  • wow i can answer that

  • A bit too easy, if you ask me. But what level is this actually? Certainly not high school...

  • THIS IS TOO HARD OMG

  • so simple.....

  • lmao fuckin easyX} my FATT AS CAT COULD DO THIS xDDD

  • hmm...i guess im bombing the sat's

  • lol the problem is so easy... its just the execution that annoys the hell outta me...

Thank God I dont have to ever take a math class again

  • How did he get that 6y from ? doesn't it suppose to be y^2 + 9 / 4 ? im lost with that 6y . can someone please help ..

  • When you square a fraction like that you square the numerator and the denominator separately.

You got the denominator right (2^2=4) but u messed up on the numerator.

When you square (y - 3) you should be doing this (y - 3)^2 instead of what you did.

    So in the end (y - 3)^2 = y^2 - 3y -3y + 9

    which simplifies to y^2 - 6y + 9...

    MAGIC!!!! :P

  • Look at an expression like (x+y)^2, which means you add two numbers, then square the result.

You think (this isn't an attack, just reality) that the result is x^2 + y^2, but it is not. Try it out.

    (2+3)^2 =? 2^2 + 3^2

    (5) ^2 =? 4 + 9

    25 =? 13

No. So something else is at work here.

    (x+y)^2 = (x+y)(x+y) = [use FOIL/distributive property] = x^2 ***+2XY*** + y^2

    (X squared plus 2xy plus y squared).

    Try it with y - 3/2 --> y^2 + 2(y*-3/2) + (-3/2)^2.

But there's a better way. Look for my other post

  • lol wtf this is like primary school

  • no offense but that is easy

  • you put your mind to it you will get it

  • Wouldn't you know the stupid fucking Americans need a Foreigner to teach them maths which in ireland we do at the age of 15/16.

  • You do it at the age of 15/16? We do it at the age of lik 10 here in Hungary.

  • lol

  • Its actually kinda easy when u get the concept of it...

  • i concur, algebra is like building a pyramind with blocks.

Once you get the base, the top will come to you eventually

  • dude...in malaysia...student learn this during high school....its not that hard...XD

  • i agree!! i'm from the philippines and we already studied that 2 yrs ago. BTW, i'm only 14. it was easy if you really understood the concept.

  • @hagane92 and in india we learn it in playschool

  • @hagane92 Students learn these things during high school in the U. S., too. (That's why they're on the tests you have to take to get into college, like this one.)

  • If this is the SAT's standard for USA. I'd be worried.

  • nice

  • since t is the common variable in each equation, it is simple to just isolate t and substitute

  • wow thats fucking easy you american dumb cunts

  • hahahahaa

  • Do it then.

  • we learn this shit in australia when we are 15 or 16 man.

  • algebra, confusing? LOL! no such thing. algebra is kindergarten stuff.

  • that's not hard WTF i was doing First and Second Order Differential Equations by 2nd grade thank you

  • EASY... just manipulation of formulae

  • Solve for t in the y equation and stick it into the x equation.

  • ok i have an A in biology,English grammar A, Physics B+, but Algebra in Algebra i have a D-!!! wtf??? im dead serious ok, if u wana be an engineer study algebra, but if u wana be a lawyer, etc dont take algebra, its supposed to be elective! its fucking haaard!!! and useless! :P

  • Holy shit, it's hard to believe that you have an A in Grammar/English class.

  • yup, grammar is eaaaasy! just study, and practice, even physics and biology are soo easy, but u have to use a bit math, its not that hard, but algebra, !!! is fucked up!

  • algebra is the easiest thing in the world. i don't even consider that maths.

  • "algebra is the easiest thing in the world. i don't even consider that maths. "

Algebra is not easy, it's just that this shit is not really algebra but manipulating formulas.

Algebra is not the manipulation of formulas.

  • give me one hard algebra problem please.

  • Ok, let's start with a moderately hard problem (for a high school student). If you can solve it, I'm gonna give you a harder problem.

    Given that

    a + b + c = 0

    a^2 + b^2 + c^2 = 1

    what is the value of

    a^4 + b^4 + c^4?

  • @triniman2408 Well obviously this algebra is easy. But no proper algebra is not easy. And if you think it is you would be on about £500,000 per year.

  • @9hello123 wat r u talking about. we do this stuff which is very basic algebra at form 3 or 4 which is like grade 9 or 8 and when later on we do not even do algebra because it is considered basic math. questions like this are parts of a part of a question and you do not get any method marks for this so if you get the answer wrong it is wrong because of how basic it is.

  • @triniman2408 Thats why I said this algebra is easy? This isn't proper algebra.

  • @9hello123 what is real algebra?

  • @triniman2408 Find, in the form

    (x-a)/l = (y-b)/m = (z-c)/n, cartesian equations for the line of

intersection of the two planes. And determine the direction cosines of this line.

    Is very very basic algebra.

  • Want to know what's fucked up? All these people giving claim to their exemplary skills in grammar only to lack proper punctuation and capitalization in their posts.

  • my tutor taught me this when i was in 8th grade lol

  • lol i agreeee.

  • this is preschool in canada too, LOL

  • this is sooo diffuclt!!! how is algebra gona help us in life???? its fucked up!

  • algebra gives you the tools to understand and solve real world problems. it's the foundation of mechanics, statistics and physics...

  • im 25 now and i gotta agree with you, when are we going to need this crap, imean its interesting in how it works and all, but damn, i found this one video teaches very simple operations of this type of math it helped me out a quiet a bit, i atleast understand a little bit now

  • My daughter scored 780 on her SAT math. Thanks for all your work. I have administered the PSAT and have found that one thing that can help you is to be able to solve the easy ones quickly with the graphing calculator (provided you know the tricks) in order to buy the time to be able to spend all the time you need to work the few real hard problems where you have to guess and check, etc. to be sure you're right.

    Thanks so much again.

  • What age do the students sit this exam? Is it in the year you turn 18?

  • 12th grade students going to college have to take the SAT test for getting into college

  • @mathproblems You take this to get into college? WTF? What country do you live in? It must have the shittest education system in the world.

  • Most people take it 2nd semester of 11th grade and first semester of 12th grade.

  • @Dongarrr

I'm a 17 year old that will be taking the test. It is generally recommended that students take the SAT in their Junior year of High School, and although it is not required for college acceptance (there are colleges that do not require the SAT), most students will have taken the SAT at least once by the time they graduate, at the time which most students are 18.

  • TOO MANY DAMN NUMBERS DAMN MAN.....

  • easy

  • ahaa........

  • Hard? ah, you mean basic..

  • I'm not good at algebra, but this problem isn't hard at all. Just from looking at the two equations to start off you should be able to rule out C, D, and E. It was calculus that kicked my butt.

  • calculus is not in the least bit hard. we finished calculus 1 to calculus 6 in one school term in my school when i was 15.

  • wow this is a headache on a board im i algebra 1 and this is a nightmare

  • that is soooooo easy!!!!!! even 4 me... im still a sophomore in high school...hehehe

  • want a cookie?

  • want a cookie for making fun of a highschooler?

  • I can assure you is not difficult....Its secondary school standard Mathematics in Singapore... Its really very easy....

  • SPEAK FUCKEN ENGLISH

  • just maybe english is not his native language...

  • rightio?

  • im in 6th grade and im doing pre algebra :D

  • fag

  • how is he a fag, americans are so retarded. in my country what would be the equivalent of your fifth grade we covered almost all of algebra.

  • you sir.conisder yourself a geek

  • how is that being a geek. all the retarsds and delinquents in my class would be smart in america. i am from the caribbean and i do zero work but this stuff is still easy. most of us go to parties all the time and drink alcohol and stuff but we aren't retarded like you americans. that is why we destroy those SAT"s with ease. i don't study, this is just common sense stuff. any retard could do it.

  • thanks for takeing time out of your life and writeing your pussy ass paragraph....u fucking jew.....(damit i wish hitler would of succeded)

  • i am not even a jew retard, i am from the caribbean. about 0.00% of the population is jews. i have never even met a jew in my life yuh stupid yankee faggot.

  • lol i bet u have a lot of friends

  • well good for you man. but just because your at a young age to be in pre-algebra, that does not mean that you have to cocky about it. if you are in pre-algebra at a young age, why don't you use your knowledge to help out others?

  • pre algrebra is the easiest thing kid

  • This is just common sense and it's been a while since I went to school. If you want to argue that some differential equations are tough, I'll agree.

  • If u can't solve this problem, maybe u ass!

  • There are no such thing as a hard algebra problem.

  • well aren't you quite the nerd...

  • I'm not a nerd.

    Reread what I wrote.

"There are no such thing as a hard algebra problem."

What I mean by this is that Algebra as easy as math gets. Algebra is so easy that it's impossible to have a hard logical algebra problem.

Now, yes, a 150 degree polynomial is super hard algebra problem to solve but you don't get these kinds of problem in an algebra class.

You don't have to be a nerd to make an A in algebra. You do however have to be a nerd to make an A in calculus.

  • lol... calculus is a joke compared to some algebra classes like abstract algebra... be careful with what you say

  • Have you ever taken topology? It quite easy if you know your abstract algebra solid.

  • Don't talk bullshit, hardness doesn't depend on the subject but on the problem. There are very easy calculus problems and unsolvable algebra problems.

  • Get with the times. That was 6 months ago when I as in trig. I walked through pre cal like it was nothing and I'm passing cal with an A.

I still stick by what I said. Algebra = easy. note Not abstract algebra or anything else just simple college algebra.

Also pre cal = easy and cal = easy or is it just me.

  • "Not abstract algebra or anything else just simple college algebra."

What do you mean? College algebra is abstract algebra. What the fuck do you learn in the US in college if not abstract algebra?

Btw, even in very simple elementary school level algebra, there are very hard problems. Can you solve the problem I posted to triniman2408?

  • "Also pre cal = easy and cal = easy or is it just me."

I guess it's not you, it's the US education system. Standards seem to be fucking low.

  • math is for n00bs

  • Ahahahahaha.

  • o m G this is fucking easy ... come in GREECE and u will se what is the real HARD maths ... , and greece education sucks :D

  • If this is hard...

I mean you dont even have to plug it in, just square the equation for y and adjust the coefficients in the quadratic equation.

  • geeeeek

  • If you think this is hard wait until you take Cal.

  • im in the 7th grade and that is so easy

  • you are good at math

  • This is honestly retared...

How can they even think of calling this HARD?

I would label it *EXTREMLY EASY* for anyone that has done up to grade 9 math? Thats all thats being used here...

  • FINISHED IN 12 SECOUNDS.

  • LOL piece of cake.....

  • god thats so hard

  • this is stupid i solved it in 20 sec im ny head.

  • i know this is math, but this person has bad grammar. i mean, "what X in terms of y?" it doesn't make sense. there should be an IS before the X.

  • lol dat is so easy im not being sarcastic

  • very hard -__-

  • lol i remeber the time when questions like this were hard for me, i've grown so much in a year =]

  • .__. wow

  • may be the fermats last theorem likes easy...and the solution too, but we have to give thanks to andrew wiles for his genius work! (i recomended to read the book)

  • hahahaha.... try prove that little thereom...

  • dude u fuck! this is like grade 6 u fucking crackwhore. Write the title: Math for retards >>

  • the college board has indentified this problem's difficulty level to be 5 the maximum hard so it is not me that states that this is hard prblem but the college board states. Do you wan to see it's rating for this problem as a proof. I can share it with you

  • Sir, please take my apology, whereby I showed myself as being under my normal intellectual level, offended and very inappropriate.

Of course I believe u the fact that the college board rated it as being a difficult problem, going from the average of students.

I watched another video from u, where u explained Pythagorean Theorem, and I actually learned something new from it.

Therefore, thanks sir for posting the videos, and helping the society (us).

    Also: Keep the good work.

  • exactly dude he calls dis difficult yea for a lepor

  • how is this difficult?

  • ask college board may be it is for US education

  • this is stupid! lol.... tooooooo easy

  • lol, thats easy..

Try to solve a^3+b^3=c^3, with a,b,c integers and not equal to 0 ! :-))

It looks simple but it is not.. Reply me when you got the answer..:-))

  • Fermats Last Theorem states you cant solve that

  • Fermats Last Theorem states that there are no Solutions

  • Lol, that was easy :P

  • try solving this

    f(-1)-f(1)=2f(0)

prove that f"(x) has at least one solution in (-1,1)

  • this a just a simple system

  • its so easy!

  • this was so easy o,o

  • This is the hard way. Your solution is too complicated. All you have to do is write

    y = 3 + 2t as

    (y-3) = 2t so

    (y-3)^2 = 4t

    Substituting this for 4t in the other equation gives x = 5 + (y-3)^2 = y^2 - 6y +14

  • Man this is so easy, you just pull your penis front and backwards :P

  • Wow!

You should change the title of the video

    This was way too easy.

I guess i should've taken the SAT then

  • it's not the problem, it's the time given to solve the problem -- which is essentially 10-20 seconds

  • i've seen college students that will have problems with this.

  • how did you get -6y ?

  • never mind i figured it out. :)

  • This is why a lot of people hate math--we always say, "It's so easy", but we never explain why. Or we do explain but we explain in a way that they can't easily understand. Either approach you take, you make them hate math forever. This explanation could've and should've been shortened...but...thanks for the lesson ^__^ ...

  • -_- difficult?! excuse me?!

  • difficulty level 5 hardest was defined by the college board and not by mathproblems. Please amke a note of this fact. That tells you how smart the students are.

  • Any "O" Level A.maths student can easily do this...........

  • Totally agree with you...but bear in mind that this is for Americans....we have to set the bar lower for them

  • Yeah, you're right about that...that's why the rest of the world is bowing their heads to the Bush regime...Americans are the masters of the world...algebra or no algebra... sarcastic laugh...LOL
