Bush wanted to build a McDonald's in Baghdad. McCain is not Bush. His speech made that pretty clear. As a tortured POW, McCain was on the receiving end of why wars suck. However, he also knows that "aggressive personal diplomacy" is not the sole solution in dealing with tyrants who lie and deceive. By collapsing the foreign oil market, there's less money to fund tyrants and Soviet wannabes, and the Middle East can't use oil as a threat/blackmail. McCain makes alot of sense with that.

This is the same dismissive McCain who refused to meet with the more than 100 Iraq Veterans for Peace who gathered at the convention center and wanted to give him a briefing with their points (just a few pieces of paper). McCain sent an advisor out to shoo them away. He has voted down benefits and assistance for vets. Why should we respect him if he doesn't respect them?
