Sal Mineo was killed in a mugging gone wrong by a career criminal. He had been in rehearsals for a play called "P.S., Your Cat Is Dead. and was coming in from the car port when a man stepped from the shadows, demanding money. Sal's neighbors heard his screams. By the time EMS and the Police arrived, Sal was dead. The knife had gone right thru his heart.
The killer, Lionel Ray Williams, was arrested & sent to prison to do 50 years to Life after bragging about it.
