  • What does Hayini mean?

  • I wish i understood what she was saying...it sounds like such a great song to understand...

  • i wish a better quality vid is posted i love this song

  • freshly ground defines the music of south africa i think ....the directness and the open energy ..thats what i miss ....

  • this song is so beautifull! =)

  • so is she singing Xhosa the whole song or that just the title? If not, what language is it? It's very beautiful(:

  • guys i dnt knw what she is talking about but I LOVE THIS SONG ...

  • @jurgenkings She talking about how when her mother died her dad basically had to raise her and her two siblings alone.. :

  • beautiful woman, beautiful voice, azange sayibona intombazane enthle yakhuliswa yindoda!!!

  • Did anybody else get shivers lol

  • @LifeWithEyesWideOpen I know i did, this is beautiful!

  • I wish I knew what she's saying but this is beautiful, as is the lady herself

  • This song is fucking my soul and I like it. Beautiful

  • beautiful

  • What a beautiful song. I will allways hold south Africa so close to my heart.

  • Whoever is saying she's fat is crazy... so just because she's a woman and a singer she needs to be a size 2? get over yourselves people she's gorgeous and her looks are irrelevant... its her voice you listen to.

  • she has the most beautiful voice, love this song, love freshly ground, love south africa! Can't wait to go home!!!

  • 5 nazis disliked the vid

  • i don't understand a word of it, but this is great.

  • all USA's comment i read in youtube and about "she is fat", i prefer great singer fat rathen than bier skinny and gorgeous :D

  • @leocheffer And what is so strange about being fat? To think of it, about 1/3 of USA are fat people. Why it looks so strange for them? :) And I think that she's not fat, not that fat that she couldn't give us amazing live performances in her concerts. :)

  • Nanooki Is right

I wish i never left as well

  • true african beayty..zolani u hv a supa voice!!!!!!!!!lu stuck urcelf in da acting business but music is ur calling grl........kip up making good inspiring music

  • i dont understand what she is saying. im not from SA.........but this song makes me wish i was.

  • @TAFFFY17 She's singin about how she was brought up by her father...mother died when she was still very young

  • @TAFFFY17

  • Love this song..it was on one of my 1st CDs:)

  • Back when i first heard this song all i could think of was my dad... touching

  • @missleshp eish ddnt mean to dislike it was scrolling up n unintentionally dislykd yo comment

  • @00rLv00:It's not about her growing her hair! A couple of years back it became popular for black women in SA to shave their hair off as she has done in the video(no fake hair). And let me tell you, as a black woman who has done the same in the past, there is nothing sweeter than getting compliments about how beautiful you are as a woman1)knowing that you are all natural and 2) with a clean shaved head- liberation. How many women do you know that would willingly shave all of their hair off?!

  • Well, what can I say ... this is smooth ... she has a deep soulful voice that is silky ... lovely ...

  • Oh, i miss my country so much... cant wait to get back over there... the beat of africa! love freshlyground," doo be doo" is my favourite

  • @00rLv00 she doesn't have to. Move on or move out!

  • @Rosannasfriend yeah she has to

  • @00rLv00 Eish right..while we are still at it why doesn't she put on a weave and wear skimpy clothes and let the camers zoom at her rear.. oh,and she must also go to the gym and aim for a body type thats absolutely not hers. While shes totally miserable and has lost her originality and her music is totally lacking life, then we can "like" her because then she will match our Western android standards and its all about her and not the music. NOT! Fek off!

  • @Modipadi100 LOL. I will subscribe to you or friend you!

  • Who ever diskliked this video wil die tomorrow! LOL!

  • this captures the nature of my African spirited roots and puts it to the peaceful sound that is our people and I am glad for that I feel that I miss the home of my forefathers and our language and dialects has such a sweet taste in my ear its so beautiful like many waters flowing over my body and making love to my mind...ya feel me

  • totally feeling this.

  • @RickandTheRailJoints well said!!

  • "KwaZakhele, 4 rooms with a dining room eBhay'..." oh man, thats my favourite line.

  • love this song. ey too many memories. just mic my girl:(

  • I can see her as a little girl, singing her heart out. Her eyes portray such lovely, real beauty and she is backed by a wonderful band. Wow.

  • Wow. I love this song! Makes me want to go to Africa! I discovered this band after hearing about Shakira's waka waka song! I'm sure I'm not the first.

  • @vleon no your not! But they rock!! I'm like where in teh world have they been...oh yeah, Africa! And I'm here in the Caribbean wishing I could get on the next flight to SA!

  • @angelikchild the carribean is like africa really.i don't see the difference.where about in the W.I do you live though.

  • @cannoir well i'm from a small island and we dont have all the languages and stuff but the rhythms and foods are similar...

  • i wish i never left south africa when i first visited.... i first heard one of their songs when i was there. and i think this song nomvula is their best.

  • @darnit44 I heard them on Shakira video and I can't get enough of them. Thanks youtube and friends for posting their videos. Check out their website it's great. I have actually dreamet many a times that I was in various places in Africa. So it's my destiny to get their. I was a little afraid to travel to S.A . but not anymore. I wish they were coming to NYC.

  • i too wish i had stayed in south africa when i visited there oct/ nov 07, but, i will return and make the country my 2nd home.

  • i love this songggg i need to go to south africa :)

  • nice song. mzantsi fo sho.

  • this song makes me want to go to SA!

  • Reminds me of when I was at home and this song would play every morning on SABC 1. Love it!

  • I can relate to this song because I myself was raised by a single father. Tata.. ndiya' bulela

  • I visited South Africa some years ago. I was invited by BMW to test a bike. There was a night party and they had Fresh Ground playing live. As they began to play I began to float. I was so impressed that the day after I asked BMW about them and I got a CD with some of their songs at that time they did not have a record in the market-. In that CD I found Nomvula. I love it so much that now I´m learning to sing & play it. Anybody can tell me about the chords? .

    Carlos Larreta. Madrid, Spain.

  • My Dad told me what this song meant but it was when I was 9 almost 5 years ago. Back when I still lived in Namibia.

  • Juts Loce this song <3 :)

  • the proudest pussies's yet the weakest women. the song is fine. reason i like it is the 4 room part

i ♥ this group of talented musicians

  • NOMVULA MEANS QUEEEN OF RAIN. id know. its my name my dad gave it to me

  • Absolutely beautiful song... I don't even understand the lyrics, but the emotion that the music and the singer's voice convey moves me nonetheless.

  • Recently we were in Cape Town and stayed at "Daddy Long Legs" in the room named after FreshlyGround, which was decorated by them. We had never heard of the group but fell in love with the music as we fell asleep.

    This is my favourite track.

  • oh what a lovely song there. anyways, i've been looking for "things have changed" for years now since i left SA. could someone please upload that song for me

  • i love this song!! However i dont get the "4 rooms with a dining room table ebhayi" part???

  • love it too.the four rooms dinning room table ebhayi...is a reference to the four roomed govt houses built for the masses in high density areas in Ebhayi(port elizabeth SA..)...they will basically have 2 bedrooms and dinning/living area and a kitchen.....their living area only has a dinning room table...typical kasi

  • Oooooo!! I see. Thanks much!
