  • Just how good was Al Bowlly!!? Even though this recording is well below par his vocals are still superb. No question the greatest singer of his generation - possibly of any generation.

  • (1) The 'bottom of the aquarium' sound is not the record, but digital artefacts, probably from heavy processing applied to remove surface noise etc. This afflicts so many recordings on Archive d0t 0rg and elsewhere.

    (2) The online Bowlly discography lists him recording this song twice: 7 Oct 1931 with Roy Fox's band for Decca; and "late" Sept 1931 with the Blue Jays for Edison Bell Records (I think that's the indicated label).

  • This record is nearly 80 years old, and all you can do is complaining about the quality. All I can do is shake my head.

  • Sounds like it was recorded through a cell phone. It'd be nice to hear the record as it originally sounded, perhaps with surface noise.

  • sounds like it's coming from the bottom of an aquarium!

  • fantastic at last great music

  • this may be a miss labeled record as it's the same as recorded by Roy Fox with Bowlly

  • What a great song and its made better by Al Bowlly singing it.

Wish that crap that passes for music could be replaced by this smooth dance music and great crooners like Al.

  • This is absolutely divine.

Thank you so much for sharing this marvellous rendition of a great song.
