That is superb, I'm going to have to give your method a go. I started off always landing my thumb on the 5th string and hadn't noticed that now I don't until I videos myself recently and I think it's by not doing this why I can't get any faster without struggling. Looks like back to square one.
I usually don't cluck when playing solo but this was originally intended to be an illustration of the lessson files so I went at it as if I had a whole Galax size jam around me. UNmentioned in the video is my use of "air thumb", something I normally do not do either. I was trying to illustrate that once one learns how to cock the thumb with every stroke, he does not "lose" the ability to air thumb. I refer people who think the techniques cannot be combined to this video.
I'm Tony Spadaro - the guy in the video. This is just a note to let everyone know there is a new edition of Rocket Science Banjo, the ebook, available complete with about 36 easy clawhamemr tabs - including Julie Anne Johnson. It's free. Just send an email to oldwoodchuckb AT yahoo Dot com with RSB in the subject line. I will not keep or re-use your email address.
The text to Rocket Science Banjo has been completely revised and new chapters added, covering the cluck, tunings, memorization techniques etc. It is free. send an email to oldwoodchuckb @ yahoo dot com. As always I don't use your address for any other purpose and discard the email after sending the ebook.
Maybe it is just the audio quality, but I'm not getting the point of the cluck. It just sounds like a loud pop to me. I'm just starting out with Clawhammer banjo. Thanks.
Hey MJTracy...the cluck is to keep the dancers at the back of the hall in time, cos they can't hear the music as loudly as the ones at the front. Cheers. Keep Music Live!
Nice!

And, thank you, Bill. I normally think of myself as a pretty average player, but right now I'm ten feet tall.
