You guys are ridiculous..I felt great being a part of this here in Ruidoso, NM ... it is not trying to say any part of this story is right or wrong..it's just sharing a story of a woman. Letting people who have been through similiar experiences know they are not alone. Letting people who have not been through experiences like this know that it's happening. VAGINA, people, VAGINA AND VAGINA STORIES...apparantley that makes you uncomfortable!
Just read this interesting tidbit: Apparently Eve Ensler was sexually abused by her father as a child. Could this particular monologue be her PROJECTING her memories of this and trying to "destigmatize" the horrendousness by making it "good rape" by another woman? You be the judge of that.
Not only does the 24-year-old rape the girl in the monologue, but she KNOCKS HER UP, apparently.
Are you so insecure about your own sexuality that you think someone can make you homosexual depending on whether you have positve or negative experience with the same or opposite sex respectively? It doesn't work that way. The girl in this story was clearly already a lesbian.
So according to you the trauma of bieng raped by a man as achild had nothing to do with her being vulnerable to queer recruitment as an adolescent? There was no acquired taste whatsoever according to you. Please. You Feminist bisexuals and dykes are all the same, you want to portray a world where men are the source of all its problems and having queer experiences are the solutions.
Men are not the 'source' of the world's problems to feminists or lesbians at all, by your logic you imply that straight men and women are straight because they despise their own sex, it doesn't work like that, people are 'romantically' attracted to the same or the opposite sex, pure biology. If you're a straight woman does that mean you hate women just because you don't desire them sexually? Of course not, you're the one making generalisations here. Recruiting gays is a homophobic myth.
Queer recruitment is a heterophobic agenda that requires trauma. If this sketch doesn't illustrate that by the clear and obvious effects of traumatizing a child into a state of repulsion from the opposite gender, with a kind gentle chickenhawk lesbian taking advantage of the victim's situation, you're a fucking idiot and a liar and an embarassment to the queers who are biologically queer who never experienced severe trauma and don't proposition adolescents.
I am a lesbian but was shocked by the predatory woman story - I agree, had she been a man and the girl was straight and consenting there would have been far more indignation because of the age difference and purely sexual motives. To be honest I don't think many people would feel particularly comfortable with that story, feminist or otherwise.
I agree, I have seen this show and this girls delivery was one of the most annoying yet. Her shrill awful Southern accent is so abrasive, I just keep turning the volume down but it's still really irritating.
Eve Ensler interviewed over 200 women, each story is the true testament of different women from all over the world. The theme was to promote action and awareness of violence towards women.
So lets get this straight - the best way to fight abuse and violence against women is to go and see a play which completely endorses the rape of a 13 year old child by a lesbian paedophile?
A play which states that this rape of a child was in fact "a good rape" whereas any sex experiences in the play involving men (whether consensual or not) are of course totally wrong/evil.
You obviously haven't seen the play otherwise you would never have left such a comment referencing just one of hundreds of testimonials by women covering a huge and varied spectrum concerning female sexuality from funny to heartbreaking and very poignant. Most people agree that this particular story about the child abuse by a woman - which clearly it was, did not really 'belong' given the nature and content of 99.5% of the other stories. All I can suggest is that you see the V.M.'s for yourself.
You obviously haven't seen the play in the original form. Perhaps it was child abuse, but the abuser was female therefore it was "good" child abuse (unlike any of those experiences with nasty men presumably because only men do bad abuse).
I completely disagree with your point about the scene not belonging - it is by far the most important and telling scene of the play and sums up the hypocrisy of author perfectly.
No you haven't got it straight at all, this particular tale was disturbing but most of the stories were incredibly eye-opening and dealt with an absolute cornucopia of experiences and themes about female sexuality from abuse, love, relationships, humour, tragedy from many different cultures, age groups and socio-economic backgrounds, providing a hugely eclectic range of perspectives from real women with no agenda other than to tell their story. If you'd seen it you'd never have written your comment
Ok so there are all these countless eye opening experiences from all these different cultures about female sexuality, yet for some strange reason all the lesbian experiences (even peadophile rapes) are always good, yet anyone involving males are of course completely wrong, and bad because men are evil.
The whole play is total gender racism against men - I'd suggest you're the one who hadn't sent eh play - at least not in it's original form without the lesbian peadophillia promotion removed.
I can't be bothererd with people who write something off when their knowledge of what they criticise is based on a fraction of it's content. It's quite obvious you haven't seen or read the VM's so your remedial view is worthless and you have made a fool of yourself.
Yes one story deliberately selected by some anti male bisexual/lesbian to send out the message that it's basically ok for lesbians to abuse kids, and that even though it's rape it's still superior to any relationship you could have with a man.
Ensler is truely sick and admits that she goes round asking six year old girls questions about their vaginas, including "what's special about your vagina" and "what does you vagina smell like".
female on female rape is empowering!!!!!?

If you've seen teh play so many times you'd know exactly how many positive references are made to normal heterosexual relationships with men.
You're the one defending one of the most sexist man hating plays ever, yet you accuse me of sexism?

This is lesbian recruitment propaganda.

Does anyone else see the huge double standard here? God, some feminists drive me crazy.

I've seen the play several times, it is you who has missed the point and I haven't got time to waste on ignorant misogynists like you. Goodbye.

Are you stupid? It's not promoting anything; it's one woman's story. How she told it, and how she felt about it. Jesus...
