  • Merv Hughes runs and bowls... quick bouncer!- Richards ducks... oh wait the cap!

Cap: (as Richards ducks -) "fuck it!"

  • The " MASTER BLASTER " at his best. Forget Tendulkar, Ponting, Kallis and the rest. This guy was the ultimate batsman, no helmet for this fella ! I spent most of the 1980s watching Viv give us Aussies a spanking. It wasn't much fun at times but looking back now this guy has my utmost respect ! There was only one bowler who ever seemed to give him trouble, Lillee.

  • Finally the great cap has fallen after years of efforts from the bowlers across the world. These days a few batsmen lose their helmet while ducking...

  • what a man.... Sir Vivian... the swagger....the chewing gum..... the nonchalant smile....

they just don't make them like him anymore.....

  • Here's a classic if you havn't seen it before. West Indies were playing England, with

Viv Richards Batting. Viv couldn't get a hold of the ball, and the English bowler said to Viv, its

round and its red. The next ball he hit a six. Viv commented to the bowler you know what it

looks like, now you go and find it. Ha ha, i always crack up when i think of that.

  • Pretty fuckin incosiderate bowling a bouncer to a guy with no helmet on

  • that ball hasnt gone anywhere near the hat.

  • I remember these days....shaking my head in awe and wondering if we were ever going to beat the Windies again....What an awesome side....

  • Playing against that pace with no helmet, you have to respect Viv's courage. As a batsman you can have a competely different mindset when playing with a helmet against pace bowling.

  • That is Sir Viv. Cool, calm, jovial and hits you to the fence next ball. I am from Bombay, and a sachin fan. But, Sr Viv will always be inimitable. Class, technique, guts, glory and game all rolled into one. Don't make 'em like they used to anymore. No helmet to a quickie. Loved to watch Des Haynes and Greenidge open for West Indies, and Walsh, Ambrose, Benjamin and Marshall with the ball... terrifying.

  • Viv Richards is to cricket what Chuck Norris is to cinema. He can do anything.

  • Merv Hughes is a bloody bull... Nothing but a bar brawling hooligan

  • my days. Viv is cool as utter fuck

  • my favourite batsman of ALL time!

  • Merv as bad as he thinks he is, can't even make Sir Viv wear a helmet, no problems . . . .

  • @stinkycricket I don't think Viv ever wore a helmet, but having faced DK Lillee and Jeff Thomson I don't think Merv would worry Viv one iota.

  • Viv was super cool and also probably the bravest SOB ever in cricket and a super awesome player.

  • There goes the coolest man on the planet.

  • oh man this man is a legend i think he wore a helmet

  • Viv super cool vs Max sly dog. Great pair of opponents. Just doesn't happen any more :(

  • i read Viv hit Merv for consecutive fours once, so Merv walked down the pitch up to Viv and farted then said, "try hitting that one to the fence".

  • @negooog

i know only one man who could hit that one to the fence.....CHUCKNORRIS MUTHAFUCKAAAAAAAAAAAAA LMAO cheers mate!

  • @negooog you just made that up, didnt you? :D

  • @negooog I think that was Cronje,not Viv..

  • @tk24ism maybe, just going on what the book said

  • @negooog it was hansie cronje

  • @negooog lol!!!!! that was the funniest thing I heard for a long time :)

  • marve was stairing at viv and viv replied u dont know who am i ? im the king of this island

  • i can just imagine what viv did to the next ball.

  • hahah love how cleans the cap "don't fuck with my cap merv" haha

  • @Lefferable right on mate lol

  • lol typical arrogant Richards.... love this man's approach......

  • oh dear Merv, what have you done? You've made him angry now....

  • also Merv for a bully big guy has a very smooth action

  • killer smile :P

  • Rob isn't it something that Viv even at this stage of his career still comes on the front foot as an initial move against a fast bowler.

  • @vindaisatossermini the best.....

  • @robelinda2 I can't find the "tickets please" incident on the net - surely worth an upload if you have it...

  • @copyalater Ive got it, but you never see Hughes say the words.

  • @robelinda2 Tragedy. I'd settle for a "magnificent reflex catch", but I doubt there are any from the big man...

  • @copyalater Well there's the caught and bowled, like on the 12th man- buried in his guts!

  • @robelinda2 Well I'll let 'im know you said that Tony...

  • @copyalater Its called bowling Max you dickhead!

  • @robelinda2 Looks like a baby's arm holding an apple! No wonder they call 'im Tangles

  • @copyalater Make sure that thing doesn't crap on my scorecard.

  • @robelinda2 Wendy, Wendy?

  • @copyalater Ok so im editing a Merv Hughes CAUGHT & BOWLED VIDEO!!! Should be awesome viewing! I think i have all his caught and bowlers on video.

  • @robelinda2 You're unbelievable! I'll never figure out how you do it. In the mists of time I seem to remember him taking one very low down, maybe in pyjamas, we'll see if it's my imagination...

  • @copyalater Sorry, that should be in "Australian Gold my friend. Canary yellow indeed"...

  • @copyalater and don't you fuckin forget it! Well i looked up every Hughes c&b and uploaded it! ENJOY!

  • @robelinda2 Seen it, love it, 'liked' it.

  • miss the days of no helmets. i miss merv

  • how the hell did it came off!!!!!
