@rahjaman I think the actual genuine reason they talked like that was because back in the 30s & 40s recording equipment for radios and shit could only pick up certain frequencies. Therefore to be understood on the radio you had to maintain that tone of voice and keep it roughly in that pitch. That still doesn't explain why people would talk like that in like, REAL LIFE though. XD
