@jppuertorico85: he is working on Grieg's Puck right now, having done a couple of Bach's inventions last year. Those would sound well on this spinet, I gather.

if they have a harpsichord at the concert im going to, im running up there and interrupting the cuncert, and play the harpsichord. i need a harpsichord soooo bad :'-(
Nice playing!! I was ten when I was starting to play the harpsichord, a French double manual, very large instrument compared to this spinet. What a neat experience.
As an aside "Bourrée" is the French term, whereas in English Baroque/Renaissance music composers tended to say "Borry" both terms refer to a form of dance music written in double time with a quarter-measure upbeat played at a quick pace.
It is similar - on paper - to a gavotte, however the latter begins on a half-bar upbeat.
Sorry about the lesson on baroque/renaissance music.
Nice bentside spinet though, and quite the good performance for one so young.
@pianoclarinet89 I have a harpsichord; I can barely stand it after a week... I usually tune it Saturday mornings very early in the morning so I can enjoy it all weekend long. I tune it in a meantone, which is actually easy after just a little practice.
Well, he's good for his age...if "torturing" him every day means make a good musician of him, don't hesitate..he will love it when he will be able to compose something alone ^^ believe in me =) (unfortunately, it's not my personal experience =( ) bye...continue just like this =)
At the age of 8, he does not have the idea of impressing girlfriends with his playing piano yet. That should come in a few years time... and his skills will develop suitably by then :))
Your boy has amazing touches:) I love harpsichord very much, and kno abit russian. Keep it up. Im looking for to more. Nadeyus tem chtoby uvedil pobolshee. Thanks!
it's a sort of little harpsichord with the keyboard placed on a side and quasi-perpendicular strings. i think the one used in this video can be called a spinet - they're usually lightweight and more delicate
Well frankly I don't know. It was manufactured in this shop about 15 years ago as a showcase, so that visitors could see it... and order one if they liked :)
He's so good and so young! I teach piano and this kid is a natural musician! I bet he's gotten so much better as this video is old.

For those of you interesting in what this piece is called: my version of it is called "menuet" by a lesser known composer: Krieger.

Nice tone.

The paino is a crappy instrument. The Harpsichord owns over the piano
wolfgang7445 4 years ago
even though harpsichords sometimes have to be tuned once a month
pianoclarinet89 3 years ago 2
Try "once a week"!

*lol*
I need to tune my harpsichord daily when I'm practising...
When playing concerts we let it tune twice (once before the concert, and once during the break)

I think it depends on the quality of the harpsi...

@pianoclarinet89 More like any time the weather changes, some times once or twice a week.

The harpsichord sounds great, but that doesn't mean it's better than the piano. The piano is a great instrument.
Stevenup7004 3 years ago
This instrument is clearly a Spinet, not an harpsichord...

Yeah, it looks like a bentside spinet to be specific, but for practical purposes, it's a harpsichord. :)
