a player only there for 2 seasons.

more than 3 seasons, 151 mtches 111 goals, but most important, a match is never boring when Luis is playing. Tricks, agression, diving, provocating, trying crazy things and always on the move.

he wasn't just a player he was the team. The best Ajax player in the last decennium (with Zlatan)

but suarez played in one of the worst ajax teams ever. without suarez Psv en Twente would be out of sight.

you're right, 15 years ago in our better years he wouldn't have had such a goodbye. And he sure ain't no messi/ronaldo, but ajax isn't real or barca en de Eredivisie definitly isn't the primera division.Ajax is known for the kind of game they play, attacking with wingplayers. those years it was longpass too suarez and watch what he makes of it. often a goal. If I ain't wrong 34 goals and 14 assists 2009/2010.

Mark my words, he will be bought away from liverpool within 3 years.

What a reception! Most players wouldn't get this for a testimonial never mind if they had spent their last few games for the club suspended for biting someone! Fair play to Suarez for showing some respect to the fans who loved him there. Not possible for this to happen in England as there's usually a lot of bitterness when a player leaves. Imagine Torres or Carroll trying this even though their clubs were amply compensated (as Ajax were) for their departures.

Players earn more at average English teams like Newcastle etc, so they leave and so would I.

Zlatan, Maxwell, Sneijder, Van der Vaart, De jong, Suarez, Chivu, Huntelaar, Heitinga. all key players bought away in the last years after playing 2/3 years at Ajax. Now we're champion and Stekelenburg, Verthongen, Van der wiel and Eriksen are ransfertargets now. we don't judge them for leaving anymore, we judge those few years

As mentioned below, it's a pity many Liverpool fans have become so "bitter" when our own players leave for club for what they believe (mistakenly or not) to be greener pastures. Michael Owen, for example - all the goals this kid scored for the reds and all he receives on Anfield returns is abuse and silly snide songs. As for Torres - obvious the guy wanted out long ago - why were the fans so surprised ? Talk about fickle ! Credit to the Dutch fans of Ajax - not much bitterness there.

I went to the ArenA in 2001 when Liverpool went over with Jari Litmanen - he got a cracking reception from his former fans too - never heard home fans cheer so much when they conceded a goal!

The mighty mullet gave them a send off and flowers - shame he never quite caught fire at Liverpool... that goal against Leverkusen should've been the catalyst for great things.

Anyhoo, now we got Suarez! Hurrah! :D

@adnanlfc1 Luis was one of the favorites players of the fans. He allways works hard. He was the man of Ajax. He have won games for Ajax on his one. He made a lot of goals. He has everything to become the crowd favorite. Van der Vaart, Huntelaar and Sneijder also have had such a farewell, but not every player gets it.

This is a nice farewell, but there were much spectacular farewells. Just search on 'Afscheid Petterson', 'Afscheid Blind', 'Tifo actie Heitinga', Afscheid 'van der Sar'.
