He has moved onto other challenges. He built a working "space elevator" for his school science project, using solar panels and a light source. It actually had more than enough power to climb up the ribbon, getting it's power from the light. He won the school fair but lost out in regionals to a boy who made a lego car that got it's power from a candle that made hot air rise and turned a pie plate. Go figure.
Nice work. Try putting a chain lift on it so you can use the hand-crank or motor and keep the fun going on and on without having to pick up the balls and putting them back at the top.
I like that thing, actually. I like how it utilizes multiple balls at one time for the paths. It looks great, especially when you consider the fact that this doesn't have a chain to power it. Nice job!
Thanks! Recently I gave my son a challenge and told him to build a climber that can go up stairs, and that if he was successful he gets a new bike. Who knows what he will come up with.
We had a lot of fun doing it. Funny you should mention a roller coaster because we have the rollercoaster setup along with three other rides of which one that is supersized and is 8' tall, maybe we will have to get a video of all of them running.
Great but simple design. It's all just slanted slopes on a wall. Could be better. I build an extremely complex 8 foot one without a wall and with gears and a chain lift.
thats really cool im thinking tha u made it ww/o instructions cool!. u shuld see my legos and k'nex cars i made from scratch.the lego one is really huge and fragile so im still working on it, and my knex transforms into many, many machines i nvr even thought of.both of my machines started out as the dumbest car my friendds saw.but now itsd HUGE

more like a knex rube goldberg as they have to be reset while a ball machine/tower/factory can keep going by chain lift

Was the loud whooping really necessary at the end?
odin6616 2 years ago
We choose to celebrate and encourage successes of our children...so yes...it was necessary.

Fine, it was for a good cause I guess

Thanks, we would have but there are a bunch of parts that need to be reset. Besides...it took 29 tries to get it to go all the way through once.

good

that is really neat. I especially love 0:43 where it rides the car down the track, and it is pushed off :)
