First off, the comment about "playing" karate clarifies that the writer doesn't speak English. It's just confusion in translation; I don't think author meant to be flippant.
Second, there's no need to be insulting just because someone hasn't seen a kata like this before. I've met people who are neither ignorant nor stupid who nevertheless have been relatively isolated in their training because they don't compete often and train only in one style.
I see a lot of questions on the bunkai and nature of this kata. First off, it is from the naha-te lineage, like goju-ryu (shito-ryu has two lineages, naha-te and shuri-te, shuri-te is like shotokan). The strange wrist motions are blocks and mirror the four basic blocks of the shuri-te lineage (up, down, inside and outside), but are more like strikes with your palm-heel or your wrist.
Not all karate schools are the same, there are different styles and different katas....maybe thats why you didnt "see" this kata in your school. and your question was ignorant and stupid, i hope i answered your question btw.
this kata is to show "softness". you breathe like in sanchin but the hands must flow. if you look at white crane gung fu, you can see the similarities.
I have tried performing this kata once and you thought it looked simple and easy? This is one exhausting kata as you really have to breathe in this one.

Brasshand...
I think he means that he "plays" karate in the same way a judoka "plays" Judo. ie..he practices the sport and learns from that practice.

Supposed to keep every muscle extremely tense in this kata and move muuuuch slower. One of may favorite katas...even if it is extremely tiring.

Wrist escapes according to how the arm is trapped; cross-arm, same-side, sword or scabbard grip. See ko-do ryu karate. And your version?
