Yes I use the Wii classic remote and just pull back on the joystick. If it worked for me it should work for you. Just keep at it. Took me like 10 to 15 times before I got it down.

I was trying this last night w/ Baby Mario in the Quacker and I did it successfully but it didn't give me a lap skip. Does anybody know what I did wrong?

You can't go to low, you need to at least make sure you appear not too low, if you see the race thing that pushes you up, your getting no lap count, but don't go to high either, otherwise it makes the shortcut slower and you can possibly have no lap count. Apparently, you go into some grass roof...In the cave...ok?

how:

It requires a lot of technique. First thing first: you need to hit the mushroom at the beginning correctly. First drive over to about where he was (doesn't need to be there at all, just for practice) then position your self at the mushroom use an item AND JUMP LEFT on your kart/bike. Anything else will end up having you bouncing around the mountain. once you're on the mountain, wheelie up to change your altitude. A lil' warning: you have to clear the starting gate completely for it to work.

On regular courses, the walls have reflective properties the make you fall. Mushroom Gorge is glitched, however, thus it does not have reflective properties and you can easily glide on the wall by wheeling up, and left & right to glide.

Well listen here, noob. Daisy and Funky Kong are the fastest for their weight, because they get speed bonuses, noob. Every character has it's own bonus, noob, and It just so happens that Funky & Daisy have the greatest speed bonus (+4) noob. Still don't understand me, noob? Look it up.

@jchapman1994 im 8900 and i use baby luigi with bullet bike. funk kong and faster BUT i really dont like them they dont drift as well as the baby characters... the baby character's bullet bike is perfect for me its speed is decent and its drift is awesome and btw if there was a straight race of mario kart wii and it was baby luigi bullet bike vs flame runner or daisy's whatever flame runner would win by hmm .5 seconds? its the drift that counts for me it cuts very well which makes up the .5
